The Community Impact (CI) Director engages diverse stakeholders to accurately and effectively assess community needs and strategically guides United Way to contribute to the community’s priorities. Influences and inspires community leaders to partner with United Way to create and implement programs that serve and add value to the community. The CI Director is an expert on community issues and challenges and has a thorough knowledge of the data trends, research, and environment and community stakeholders. Proactively works to address complex issues by providing leadership around gathering, interpreting and using relevant data to inform and drive strategy development. The CI Director works to build organizational capacity through community collaboration, grant development, and to develop high-impact, meaningful volunteer opportunities that increase revenue, impact, outcomes, and influence.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Community Meetings, Events, and Groups

  • Attend community tabling events
  • Attend weekly, monthly, and quarterly community meetings
  • Work closely with the Caring Neighbor Retired Volunteer groups

Manage & Monitor Community Grants

  • Plan annual Community Partners’ Meeting in July
  • Prepare grant application forms with online platform vendor
  • Recruit and train grant reviewers (Community Investment Committee)
  • Review Quarterly data reports and conduct quarterly collaboration meetings with funded program agencies
  • Conduct site visits with reviewers
  • Manage and report on community and federal grants

Supervise Family Stability Services Operations

  • Ensure services are properly staffed
  • Recruit volunteers and Social Work interns for case management
  • Field and manage complaints about services
  • Oversee and provide support and supervision for grant reporting

Supervise Mission United Program Operations

  • Work with the director to recruit staff for case management
  • Supervise SW interns to ensure they are meeting expectations and goals
  • Supervise AmeriCorps VISTA member to strengthen the program

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)

  • Enlist VITA coordinator
  • Recruit VITA volunteers and plan training
  • Supervise
  • Enlist VITA sites
  • Report results
Educational Background: 
Master of Social Work degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher
  • Ability to learn skills and instruct team members on the use of automated tools
  • Ability to design program logic models, define outputs and outcomes, and instruct community partners in designing their own logic models
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $41,000 to $50,000 per year
