United Way of Southeastern Connecticut is seeking to hire a Community Impact Director. This individual must be energetic and committed to provide innovative and strategic leadership to its fund distribution, direct strategies, policy, processes, programs, and partnerships/collaborations related to the community impact goals of the organization. This includes helping to develop and implement community impact projects and initiatives. The Community Impact Director will be expected to provide support to improve community conditions in relation to United Way’s mission within the guidelines established by the Board of Directors and President/CEO.
- United Way of Southeastern Connecticut seeks a leader with demonstrable core leadership competencies, which exhibits collaborative skills, community vision, and volunteer management ability.
- The successful candidate must be extremely proficient in public speaking, training and facilitation, writing, and presentation skills.
- A strong knowledge of program logic models and/or results based accountability is essential to this position.
- The successful candidate must establish and maintain regular communication with United Way funded, local not-for-profits.
- The person must also seek relationships to understand the needs of the sector for professional development, funding and collaboration on behalf of the United Way. This position requires the use of courtesy, tact, and discretion.
- It also requires the ability to inspire and harness the energies and talents of many.
- Experience in the nonprofit sector and volunteer management is important.
- Familiarity with the application of collective impact principles and strategies that leads to community-level change and strong project management skills are preferred. This person should be able to demonstrate the ability to think and act strategically and be able to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
- The ability to work in a region with diverse constituents including multiple school districts and municipal governments is critical.
- The candidate should have substantive knowledge in one or more of United Way’s focus areas (financial stability, homelessness, and/or food insecurity). Experience in the southeastern Connecticut region is desirable.
