The Volunteer Engagement Manager leads a volunteer and paid staff team that is responsible for activities that create and sustain a positive team culture with volunteerism at its core. They build capacity both internally and within other non-profits in the community through recruitment, selection, placement, training, management and optimization coaching, and other mechanisms to build a strong volunteer corp. The team supports volunteer projects internal and external. The team also is a hub for administering ‘service learning’ programs such as AmeriCorps/VISTA, interns, etc. placed within the organization and with other non-profits. They may have a revenue goal for conducting employee engagement activities as "fee for service" for conventions/conferences.
- Develops and implements volunteer related goals and objectives which reflect the strategic vision of the organization.
- Leads the recruitment, selection, placement, and on-boarding of volunteers for the entire organization.
- Partners with fundraising staff to provide volunteer opportunities for current and prospective campaigns.
- Develops and facilitates training to incorporate best practices for partner agencies.
- Oversees ‘service learning’ programs such as AmeriCorps / VISTA, interns, etc. Completing applications, ongoing progress reports, facilitating progress meetings, performing site visits and completing administrative duties for successful implementation.
- Coordinates and manages United Way Day of Caring and other community events.
- Develops a strong customer service and recognition program that engages, supports, and retains volunteers.
- Tracks and monitors performance measures and goals of the department.
- Researches and stays up to date on best practices related to volunteer and corporate engagement.
- Works collaboratively to meet revenue goals by conducting engagement activities as "fee for service" for conventions/conferences.
- A minimum of two to four years of progressively responsible administrative experience. The right combination of education and/or relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of degree requirements. Prior non-profit program management preferred

Technical Knowledge and Equipment
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and experience with database management.
- The incumbent in this position may operate any/all of the following equipment: telephone, fax machine; computer, printer and related equipment; copy machine; audio-visual equipment; calculator.
Salary: $41,000 to $50,000 per year
