Analyze, interpret and integrate findings from quantitative and qualitative science, health services, and policy data to assess community health needs and effectively articulate the impact of cardiovascular disease and stroke in developing actionable health and quality improvement strategies. Evaluate assets and resources of health services programs to ensure and facilitate integration of evidence-based approaches to program development. Provide consultation and facilitation of data analysis, evaluation of programs and interpretation of results to identify and apply best practices and innovative ideas/trends to improve community health. Develop, coordinate, and/or implement community-wide strategies and programs based on the American Heart Association’ s mission and goals. Maintain accountability for the organization and coordinate management of volunteer networks, strategic alliances and coalitions at the community level as determined by the community health plan and outreach efforts. Collaborate with affiliate and state-level health strategy colleagues to ensure that local opportunities are aligned with the AHA’s agenda at the state and affiliate level. Serve as the health lead for the community to facilitate the recruitment and management of select community health program volunteer networks. Provide consultation, guidance and subject matter expertise on community health priorities through evidence-based approaches and protocols to internal and external partners to drive an overall community action plan to achieve health improvement and quality goals. Integrate health strategies and strengthen collaborative efforts across all business functions and be accountable for both health/mission and revenue goals. Coordinate efforts with division/state/affiliate staff across health strategies and development. Provide training, consultation and implementation assistance to local staff on health goals and priorities.
- Master’s degree in Public Health, or related field and 1 year of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation in public health, education and/or community health programs. Experience and skill set must include: 1) Proficiency in the Spanish language, both oral and written.
- Experience creating and implementing culturally appropriate curricula geared toward the Hispanic/Latino community.
- Experience fundraising and maintaining relationships at corporate and community level; and securing sponsorships at $25,000 and above.
- Experience securing and activating corporate sponsorships inclusive of health assets, in addition to grants.
- Proficiency in medical terminology with ability to understand and discuss healthcare initiatives and goals with healthcare practitioners and lay persons.
- Experience developing stakeholder relationships with and consulting on science-based quality health metrics to healthcare practitioners in health plans, outpatient clinics, medical groups and similar environments to improve control rates and patient outcomes.
- Experience integrating current and emerging technology (e.g. mobile apps) into program development and sponsorship opportunities.
- Experience in strategic and programmatic development and implementation with local, regional, statewide and national partners on science-based community health and quality improvement initiatives.
- Experience analyzing, interpreting, integrating and applying public health sciences including biostatistics, epidemiology and public health informatics in the implementation of strategic and scalable health improvement initiatives.
- Experience identifying, recruiting, engaging and developing executive champions across sectors to serve as volunteer leaders, including Board of Directors. In the alternative, will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, or related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation in public health, education and/or community health programs, and the experience/skill set as set forth above in numbers.
