The Director, Donor Engagement manages and directs a team of Corporate Relations Managers for the development and execution of comprehensive donor engagement strategies and the achievement of revenue goals for companies, individuals and prospects within the Corporate Relations team portfolio.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Exercises direct supervision of the Corporate Relations Managers including establishing goals and expectations, providing timely, candid and constructive performance feedback, supporting professional development, recognizing and rewarding team members for accomplishments and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Ensures deep, strategic, year-round, sustainable relationships between the employees and companies within the Corporate Relations team portfolio.
  • Ensures the key individuals and senior leaders within each corporation and prospect in the Corporate Relations team portfolio are identified and strong United Way relationships are cultivated and stewarded through time spent with individuals and facilitated connection to Affinity Groups and Major Gift team.
  • Facilitates strong partnership with Major Gift team to share and review information and reports to achieve mutual goals of increased donor participation, retention, and revenue.
  • Ensures Corporate portfolio-connected special events are planned and executed, participating in key events with individuals, prospects and corporations, the United Way, and the communities and agencies supported.
  • Ensures the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database and all pledge processes are actively documented, managed and improved.
  • Analyzes data and reports for opportunities and risk identification. Tracks and evaluates effectiveness of strategies, campaigns, and overall revenue results.
  • Works collaboratively across departments and the organization.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
Educational Background: 
A Bachelor’s degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5+ years’ experience in fundraising or a comparable combination of education and experience in fundraising, development or sales.
  • Prior management experience, including developing and monitoring budgets.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, feedback-oriented management style.
  • Excellent listening skills, with the proven ability to solicit information from others.
  • Proven ability to create, grow and retain strong customer relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively including the ability to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities among multiple concurrent assignments, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Technical Knowledge and Equipment

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and experience with database management.
  • The incumbent in this position may operate any/all of the following equipment: telephone, cell phone, and fax machine; computer, printer and related equipment; copy machine; audio-visual equipment; calculator.

Environment

  • The environment for this position is an open office area that is clean and comfortable.
  • It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc.
  • The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. In addition, the incumbent may have limited travel to client sites, workplace events, meetings, etc.

Physical Activity

In the course of performing this work, the incumbent:

  • Will spend substantial time standing, sitting, speaking and listening.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
