The primary responsibility of the Accounts Receivable Manager is to ensure the accuracy of reported revenue and receivables and to maintain the integrity of the accounts receivable sub-ledger. Investigates and resolves discrepancies.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Ensure accurate recording of donor pledges to sub-ledger
- Import and reconciliation of receivables to the general ledger
- Accurate recording of cash receipts and donor choice payout.
- Calculate and record monthly pledge loss allowance.
- Maintain funded agency portal
- Resolve donor concerns and answer donor and agency questions in a timely manner.
- Work closely with the Database Administrator and manage all data support functions including data maintenance, account updates, and data analysis. Manage tax-exempt status verification and other criteria of organizations for donor choice eligibility.
- Timely and accurate preparation and distribution of year-end tax receipts.
- Prepare financial schedules; complete month-end close requirements and perform month-end analysis of outcomes.
- Assist in planning and preparation for annual audit, including audit and Form 990 work papers and schedules.
- Assist in revenue and operating budget and forecast preparation and presentation.
- Manages receivables to ensure timely collections.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Related Field or a comparable combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and standards, reporting requirements, reconciliation methods, and audit compliance.
- Proven work history involving accounting experience and in-depth knowledge of accounts receivable accounting policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications with an advanced skill level in Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to be highly motivated, take initiative and excellent follow-through skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality at all times.
- Demonstrated ability to tactfully handle stressful situations, negotiate and resolve conflicts, respect and observe organizational protocol.
- Ability to work and engage with a diverse staff, volunteers, state and local government and philanthropic organizations, donors, community partners and independent contractors.
These requirements are met by any combination of education that includes a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or related field and a minimum of three years of related accounting experience. Prior non-profit accounting experience is preferred.
Technical Knowledge and Equipment
- Technical knowledge of the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite and experience with database management.
- The incumbent in this position may operate any/all of the following equipment: telephone, fax machine; computer, printer and related equipment; copy machine; audio-visual equipment; calculator.
