The Volunteer Mobilization Manager develops, plans and manages the coordination and recruitment of volunteers and volunteer opportunities for the organization.  The purpose is to create opportunities to build volunteer capacity for United Way of Southwest Louisiana, our partners as well as the communities we serve.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Volunteer Management

  • Manage the process of connecting groups of volunteers to meaningful opportunities to provide one time and ongoing volunteer service to Allen, Beauregard, Cameron, Calcasieu, and Jeff Davis Parishes
  • Become a resource and point of contact connecting volunteers and volunteer opportunities
  • Manage and oversee all elements of volunteer project management
  • Cultivate, recruit, maintain, coordinate and train the necessary number of volunteers for all the organizational needs
  • Develop volunteer retention and recognition practice
  • Plan and manage at least one community engagement event that engages the community at large in Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron and Jeff Davis Parishes
  • Supervise all volunteers assigned
  • Create service opportunities for groups visiting SWLA seeking service projects, including on-site and off-site
  • Manage volunteer registration process
  • Maintain files and record-keeping system to ensure proper handling of all volunteer related correspondence
  • Maintain up-to-date records on all volunteers
  • Interview, screen and train all potential volunteers to ensure compliance and regulatory mandates
  • Research grant opportunities, write and manage any grant funding in relation to volunteer projects and complete reporting requirements
  • Ensure accurate and timely tracking of volunteer hours
  • Act as the primary contact to respond to enquiries from volunteers
  • Develop trainings to develop volunteer capacity within our service area
  • Receive training and be prepared to support volunteer disaster efforts within the service area
  • Develop and mobilize volunteers to become active in disaster
  • Attend community events and promote volunteerism
Educational Background: 
BS/BA or 3 years of related experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Proof and maintenance of valid driver’s license
  • Proof and maintenance of vehicle insurance
  • Must pass a Louisiana State Police background check &  a drug test
