This position is located at Howard County United Way in Kokomo, IN. The AmeriCorps member will assist in collaborating with community and human service organizations to engage the community as part of the solution to opioid use at the local level.
- Developing collaborations with targeted organizations in the community based on recommendations from year one of the AmeriCorps project.
- Working with Community Impact staff in support of 75in5 programming and Early Learning working groups.
- Attending applicable community coalition and United Way staff meetings
- Conducting community conversations and trainings on Harwood Institute
- Participating in community and networking events to help raise awareness of United Way programming.
- Identifying and facilitating possible collaborations between organizations with shared goals.
- Developing an experimental presentation to help educate and inform community members on the findings from first year of UNITED Against Opioid Abuse program.
The United Against Opioid Abuse AmeriCorps program utilizes AmeriCorps members to assist United Ways and other community organizations in: conducting a landscape scan about how their community is experiencing the opioid problem, developing an asset map to help leaders look at community resources systemically, and engaging the community as part of the solution. This work supports existing coalitions currently working on prevention and response to problematic opioid use.
Program benefits include childcare assistance for full time members, health coverage, training and professional development, education award upon successful completion of service, and a living stipend.
Salary: Less than $20,000 per year
