Program Manager, Impact Monadnock Early Childhood Initiative

The Program Manager will effectively lead the efforts of Impact Monadnock (IM), Monadnock United Way’s (MUW’s) signature early childhood impact initiative.  Using collective impact methodologies, the Manager will facilitate work with groups of community partners and volunteers to develop strategies and implement actions to achieve measurable and lasting change in community conditions related to early childhood. Our vision is that all children in the Monadnock Region and their families are healthy, learning and thriving.

This individual will accomplish this objective with the support and supervision of the Senior Director of Impact, and by:

  • Mobilizing community partners and volunteers to implement the IM early childhood initiative through strategic work groups (project teams).
  • Leading implementation of the IM strategic plan informed by best practices in early childhood development.
  • Working in collaboration with the MUW Impact Team to ensure to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of Impact Monadnock project teams.
  • Reporting regularly to the IM Advisory Committee and Former IM Board, the Monadnock United Way Board, Spark NH, and the community.
Areas of Responsibility: 

The Manager reports to the Senior Director of Impact and collaborates closely with MUW staff, especially the Impact Team.  The Manager will:

  • Implement the IM strategic plan through hands-on field work with IM project teams; facilitate the creation and implementation of action plans for each group that support the IM strategic plan.
  • Manage the IM strategic plan and ensure systems for data collection, evaluation and reporting as part of MUW’s overarching impact evaluation plan.
  • Collaborate with the MUW Communications Specialist in creating and implementing a marketing and communications plan for IM and its various audiences that include website content and social marketing, presentations to stakeholders, newsletter content, etc. 
  • Develop, implement and/or enhance systems within the IM initiative to facilitate effective communication among all project teams and IM volunteers.
  • Work in tandem with the Senior Director of Impact and the IM Advisory Committee on strategies and growth potential for the IM initiative.
  • Work with the MUW team to ensure positive and active communication of the community impact and investment agenda (including IM), events, accomplishments and challenges through presentations and written reports.
  • Assist in planning, writing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating grant-funded projects; write required reports to funders.
  • Work closely with the Senior Director of Impact to identify areas around which to collaborate and strengthen strategies and investments for early childhood.
  • Oversee and supervise volunteers, interns, and others engaged in the IM initiative, and provide relevant training/professional development.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with local, regional and state leaders and other external stakeholders including Spark NH Community of Practice, Healthy Monadnock, the Monadnock Region System of Care, New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, and other community impact efforts in the region and state; represent the IM vision and seek input for early childhood development activities and strategic planning.
  • Research, identify, develop and pursue best practices in collective/community impact and early childhood development.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree plus 3-5 years’ work experience in education, social services, health or other related fields.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal, oral, presentation, and written communication skills are required, with an ability to relate to a diverse group of individuals or organizations in an effective manner.
  • Project management experience.
  • Proven track record of achieving timely results.

  • Community impact and technical support experience.
  • Experience working in multi-sector collaborations both leading and providing technical support.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to think strategically.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Grant writing and monitoring experience a plus.
