Senior Counselor Support Specialist (SCSS) will assist the PND, provincial nutrition team, BPHS implementers and other partners in the process of identifying nutritional counseling shortcomings and challenges. Moreover, the SCSS, in close coordination with the PND and partners will facilitate the relevant area review, and consultation at the regional planning and coordination forums using the data from the M&E findings.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • To work closely with the M&E team to identify the provinces with poor nutritional counseling performance
  • Using the M&E data (findings) to work closely with the PND and partners to plan for support
  • In close collaboration with the FHI360 M&E and PND, develop a gaps analysis matrix to highlight the poor performing provinces
  • In coordination with the PND and regional/provincial nutrition team to plan for review, planning and coordination workshops
  • Based on the available data from the M&E, design the related contents of the review, planning  and coordination workshops
  • Making sure that the regional review and planning workshop is following concrete and verifiable results
  • Ensure that all the provincial nutrition team members and the provincial health decision-making are part of the review, planning and coordination workshops
  • Ensure that outcome of the regional/provincial review, planning and coordination workshops in the related area is specific, measurable, relevant, realistic, time-bound, and verifiable
  • To ensure that planning and review workshop emphasize of the partner's responsibility and accountability
  • Evaluated the effectiveness of review, planning, and coordination workshops with the focuse on nutrition counselling
  • Facilitating the workshop in close collaboration with the PND  and the partners
  • Ensure timely planning, management and administrative arrangement of the workshops
  • In close coordination with the PND and partners follow the implementation of the relevant area actions points at the target health facilities
  • Ensuring close coordination with the partners operating in the nutrition field
  • Ensuring that workshops are conducted in accordance with the standard checklist
  • Development and submission of reports
Educational Background: 
Medical Doctor is must and the advanced degrees in public health, planning, and management is desirable
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least two years of work experience in planning and provision of technical support to the government institution
  • Computer literacy
  • Able to travel to provinces
  • Team player and able to work under the difficult situation
  • Good coordination and communication skills
  • Basic Knowledge English language skills (Verbal/Written)
  • Good local languages skills (Pashto and Dari) are a must
