Deputy Executive Director

We have a rare opportunity for a unique individual as the Deputy Executive Director in our Dallas office, reporting to the Executive Director. The Dallas market is the top fundraising market in the nation for the AHA, with responsibility for the largest Heart Walk and Heart Ball events in the country. This position works with the highest-level executives and companies in the Dallas area. Overall responsibilities will be to work with the senior development staff to secure, maintain and deepen relationships with our signature, platform and multi-year donors while sharing the overall goal for the Dallas Division to invest $14 million in our life-saving mission.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Demonstrates experience in developing and closing six and seven figure sponsorships and general fundraising/sales prowess.
  • Achieves marketing and sales operational objectives by contributing marketing and sales information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews.
  • Provides high level strategic support for these key accounts; deepening relationships.
  • Sustains rapport with key accounts by making periodic visits; exploring specific needs; anticipating new opportunities.
  • Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Collaborates with regional staff to develop market-wide strategic communications and marketing plans.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Outside the box thinking.
  • 10+ years proven and successful executive experience in non-profit fundraising, or for-profit sales/business development working with Fortune 1000 companies.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure corporate donations through participating in and leading top-level sponsorship asks; including comprehensive proposal development.
  • Strong knowledge of the Dallas area and surrounding area business, medical, and philanthropic communities.
  • Collaborative approach to working with internal and external partners for a “win-win”.
  • Results driven with the ability to multi task, must also be willing and able to travel frequently within the Dallas area.
  • Organization, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Intermediate knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to lift at least 20lbs from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.
