The Director Strategic Initiatives is responsible for achieving our financial goals through sponsorships, cause marketing, third party events, and event fundraising techniques. He/she will obtain sponsorships for our events, develop cause marketing promotional campaigns with organizations in Orange County (point of purchase donations, portion of purchase, pin ups and round up donations), develop other non-traditional revenue streams, and partner with our event team to ensure professional, high energy, brand enhancing events are well executed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain successful cause marketing campaigns for OCUW
- Identify and lead new revenue opportunities
- Identify, cultivate and steward community partnerships
- Explore and cultivate third party event opportunities
- Assist in identifying and cultivating foundation relationships
- Engage community groups and create philanthropic partnerships
- Assist in creating a pipeline for new community donors to give directly to United Way
- Create systems, policies and procedures for effective fundraising, recruitment and retention of event participants, partners and sponsors
- Partner with Events team on aspects of events and programs including: project planning, sponsorships, budgets, communications
- Develop strategic relationships with venues, vendors, key stakeholders, corporate, etc.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Major Gifts, Investor Relations, Campaign, and Grant teams to identify opportunities for strategic alliance and philanthropic partnerships with existing supporters and prospects
- Be an ambassador of United Way’s mission and strategic plan in the community
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree with 10 years successful experience in Major Gifts, Fundraising or Sales
Skills/Experience:
- Cause Marketing experience
- Enthusiasm, creativity, sense of humor and can-do attitude.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively manage multiple tasks effectively
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Ability to successfully work independently and in a team environment
- Experience developing and executing events
- Proven track record leveraging opportunities, managing vendors and motivating volunteers to successful execution of an event
- Team player with demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service and apply sound judgment when dealing with committees, vendors, donors and volunteers
- Results driven and detail-oriented, with a strong work ethic and high level of integrity
Technical Knowledge
- Excellent computer skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
