PART I: OBJECTIVE & RESPONSIBILITIES
OBJECTIVE: Indiana United Ways (IUW) is a membership organization that is helping Indiana’s United Ways fight for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every community. This key position works with members to implement a new project: United Against Opioid Abuse, an aa Collective Impact-informed AmeriCorps project across several United Ways on the topic of opioid use prevention, treatment and/or recovery. Six AmeriCorps members are currently in process of developing a local landscape scan and asset maps on the topic for their communities, and four more members must be recruited and oriented for a January start date.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Supports AmeriCorps members and site supervisors at local United Ways in project implementation. Liaises with Serve Indiana and other potential partners. Oversees compliance with Federal AmeriCorps grant, including maintain appropriate files and policies, preparing programmatic reports, supporting budgeting, and developing continuation and recompete grants. In collaboration with members, develops program model and provides training and support to ensure fidelity to the model, collection and reporting of data, and monitoring of grant expenditures.
The position is dependent upon grant funds, and begins December 18, 2017, or as soon as is practicable.
Health Impact:
- Support and train members and supervisors in best practices for AmeriCorps programs, community collaboration, and Collective Impact. Supports professional development plans.
- Analyze statewide data as requested to support our members’ work on substance use disorder and its impacts.
- Stay updated and informed on best practices and trends in Collective Impact and on the opioid issue.
- Work collaboratively with supervisor in grant writing and other resource development activities around addressing substance abuse disorder from a community perspective.
- Assists local United Ways in recruiting, retaining, and evaluating AmeriCorps members.
- Represent IUW in various coalitions related to the topic.
- Other duties as prescribed.
PART II: SCOPE
Direction of Others: Collaborates with staff leadership on tasks as needed. Serves in a supporting role to AmeriCorps members who are supervised locally.

PART III: QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in social sciences required.
- Strong knowledge and experience working with AmeriCorps required.
- Strong knowledge and experience working with non-profit organizations preferred. United Way experience is helpful. Collective Impact experience is helpful.
- Experience leading projects and working in community impact; familiarity with outcome and impact metrics.
- Grants management experience is preferred. Experience in data analysis, evidence-based practices, and grants accountability.
- Experience and expertise in substance abuse and/or prevention is helpful.
- Experience working with volunteers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office computer applications.
- High level of prioritization and organization skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication, experience public speaking to small and large audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with set deadlines/guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team-based environment.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse population.
PART IV: WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
- Moderate level of stress caused from tight deadlines.
- Moderate level of mental and/or visual fatigue and/or eyestrain may result from looking at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
- Occasional work outside of normal business hours.
- Periodic travel is required and access to own transportation and a valid driver's license is necessary.
