Fundraising (Sales) Director, Youth Market

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Fundraising (Sales) Director, Youth Market based in Honolulu. As the Director, you apply proven sales techniques to acquire new and maintain existing schools accounts in West Oahu and the Big Island to participate in the Kids Heart Challenge!, the AHA educational and fundraising program. The director must live on Oahu and requires “Road Warrior” attitude.

Key responsibilities include prospecting and recruiting schools to participate in the AHA fundraising activities; securing cash sponsorship; providing the tools and training needed to help schools establish and meet fund raising goals; actively supporting school volunteer coordinators through strong customer service; and ensuring overall success of the program.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Achieve a fundraising goal of $500,000 (gross)
  • Recruit and manage K-12 school accounts ( existing and new) to participate in Kids Heart Challenge! within the assigned geographic territory
  • Secure cash sponsorships
  • Recruit, train, coach and motivate volunteers in Youth Market products and services
  • Build strong relationships with volunteers including School Districts, Principals, Teachers and Parent Teacher Associationsthrough outstanding customer service
  • Ability and willingness to track and maintain account data on regular basis
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and training
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2+ years outside sales or fundraising experience, with proven track record in achieving goals
  • Strong cold-calling, relationship-building and customer service skills
  • Ability to accomplish results through strong volunteer coaching and management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications and ability to maintain a high volume of account data in a timely and accurate manner
  • Highly effective organizational, multitasking, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently during irregular work hours
  • Willing and able to travel extensively within given territory (30-40 school visits per week) including regular overnight travel within the covered territory as well as travel to the Mainland. Must have valid driver’s license, auto insurance and personal vehicle or other reasonable form of transportation
  • Able to lift 15-20 pounds to transport supplies and materials

  • Experience in K-12 school sales or fundraising, educational sales

  • Strong familiarity with the geographic territory served
