The Senior Leadership Giving and Affinity Groups Manager is responsible for retaining and growing United Way’s special gifts and leadership giving donors in and outside of workplace campaigns. He/she also manages the Women United and Emerging Leaders Society staff. The Senior Manager provides direction for cultivating and soliciting leadership contributors, major gifts and prospects through effective multi-channel marketing/communications, events and in-person engagement.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develops strategies to recruit, retain and grow leadership donors ($1,000 and up) in and out of the workplace through multi-channel communications, events, volunteer engagement activities and in-person engagement
- Works with Development Partnership Managers to identify new, and cultivate current and lapsed, donors to give at the leadership level within workplace campaigns
- Plans, coordinates and executes annual direct mail campaigns to individuals outside of workplace giving and lapsed workplace campaign donors; analyzes giving data for special gifts and leadership donors and develops and executes strategies to encourage greater engagement and raise more dollars to support United Way’s community priorities
- Builds relationships with current leadership donors and family foundations to secure gifts and increase giving
- Develops and executes thank you strategies for leadership donors in and out of the workplace
- Ensures accuracy of leadership donor information for reporting and produces annual leadership investor publication
- Develops portfolio of prospective leadership and major gift donors; recruits and staffs leadership volunteer chairs to engage leadership donors and major gift prospects throughout the year
- Develops and executes strategies to grow the Philanthropy Fund and ensures excellent customer service and timely processing of designations
- Increases membership in United Way’s 1924 Society (planned giving) through effective donor cultivation
- Supervises Affinity Groups staff team and ensures achievement of revenue and engagement goals for respective areas
- Performs other duties as assigned
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business or related field
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum 3 – 5 years experience in nonprofit development/fund raising including working with people of high net worth and special event management
- Minimum 3 – 5 years experience in supervising individuals
- Proven track record of identifying and stewarding high net worth individuals, donor advised funds and/or family foundations
- Ability to develop strategies that build relationships and increase giving
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
- Collaborative team player who enjoys working cross functionally to create integrated strategies
- Effective project management skills
- Reliable transportation and valid CT driver’s license.
- Ability to balance competing priorities
- Forward-thinking with the ability to drive strategy, implement tactical planning and take action
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
