To direct and oversee all financial activities, human resources, payroll, technology and operations of the corporation. The Director of Finance provides support for Finance, Technology and HR Committees as well as to the United Way staff.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Maintains the organization’s financial records, including, but not limited to, bank accounts, cash receipts and disbursements ledgers, accounts payable, payroll and employee leave records, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Responsible for tracking and reporting on all grant income and expenses.
- Coordinates and directs the preparation of annual departmental budgets and analyzes performance against budget. Works closely with the CEO and Finance Committee to prioritize planning for budget purposes.
- Prepares and presents if needed a monthly Income and Expense Statement, Balance Sheet and Collections Report for the Board of Directors.
- Works with the Finance Committee and Treasurer to develop accounting policies and procedures.
- Responsible for regulatory compliance with all federal, state and local reporting deadlines.
- Prepares financial files for annual external audit and provides support to auditors.
- Maintains all organization databases and verifies financial data entry of campaign pledges, receipts and designations.
- Maintains grant cash balances.
- Provides staff support to volunteer Technology, Finance and HR Committees.
- Ensures ongoing hardware and software maintenance and updates.
- Responsible for maintaining insurance policies including evaluation of policies at renew and maintaining supporting documentation for possible insurance claims.
- Responsible for Human Resources and prepares payroll for the organization.
- Completes quarterly/annual federal and state employment taxes.
- Responsible for employee benefit administration
Educational Background:
Bachelor degree in accounting or closely related field.
Skills/Experience:
- Five years of experience in Accounting/Finance. Payroll and payroll tax experience. Two years of supervisory experience.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications and organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills including Excel and database management.
- Ability to work with volunteers.
- Be a stellar representative of UWSM.
Preferred
- CPA
- Human Resource, Technology and/or non- profit experience.
- Public speaking experience.
- Fund accounting software and campaign software experience.
