The Development Director is responsible for increasing the fundraising capacity of Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County to build decent, affordable homes for qualified families in the Elkhart County community. This rewarding position is a full-time, salaried position, and will be responsible for building relationships with individuals, businesses, churches, civic organizations, foundations, and community leaders. The Development Director will develop and implement fundraising strategies and initiatives to achieve affiliate house construction goals, and assist in the strategic planning process.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop an effective fundraising plan with the Executive Director to meet affiliate house production goals and operations.
- Build relationships with current donors, prospects, and future potential donors.
- Engage in fundraising outreach to grow the donor base to include personal visits and follow-up activities.
- Participate in public speaking and outreach opportunities to share information about Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County and its impact in the community.
- Develop a volunteer Special Events Committee to assist in the annual Game Night Gala event. Organize and Coordinate the signature event to maximize community participation and financial support.
- Identify and monitor grant requests for the affiliate. Ensure compliance requirements are achieved.
- Provide support to the members of the Board, and engage them in affiliate fundraising activities.
- Assist with follow-up calling/emails, mailings, and other activities related to building strong donor relationships and enhancing donor confidence in the organization.
- Develop, coordinate, and oversee direct donor mailings, appeal letters, and other donor enhancement mailings as needed.
- Lead the staff Development Team, and prepare regular reports that evaluate fundraising efforts. Develop monthly and quarterly reports on the implementation and progress of the fundraising work plan.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or business is preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential as well as the ability to work some evenings and weekends. This is a salaried full-time position.
- Experience in fundraising, marketing, or sales is desirable.
