The Public Philanthropy Manager develops and implements year round strategies to assist in recognizing that the social fabric of Tarrant County is made strong by every man and every woman contributing what they can to make their community a better place. This position is crucial for United Way of Tarrant County to deliver world-class donor experiences that align with their respective goals and the community assessment.
The Manager oversees public philanthropy interns/fellows working in collaboration with area colleges and universities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize and execute projects through a donor centric lens.
- Develop and carry out fundraising strategy in collaboration with the Development Team and Community Investment Department
- Identify, and build relationships with potential donors
- Responsible for the solicitation of public philanthropists and other entities for donations
- Identify, recruit, orient, cultivate and manage volunteers, interns, and fellows in order to carry out donor engagement as described in the strategic plan
- Represent United Way of Tarrant County at conferences, community meetings and partner gatherings.
- Establish and oversee the Ed Schollmaier United Way Philanthropy Fellow in conjunction with the TCU Philanthropy class.
- Oversight of financial projections with an emphasis the following key metrics: community assessment alignment, new donor revenue growth and increased participation from individuals/populations that are typically unengaged with UWTC.
- Leverage the social responsibility arm of the strategic plan to rediscover community relevance.

- Must be eligible to work in the United States (No Sponsorship)
- 5-7 years of experience in a fundraising or resource development position
- Experience in leading, coaching and developing direct report staff preferred
- Must have excellent networking abilities
- Strong computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Exceptional communications skills (written and verbal)
- Strong organizational and follow-through skills
- Must have strong interpersonal skills, maturity, good judgment and be capable of communicating with a diverse range of individuals
- Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
- Must have experience developing plans of action, including project review and measurement
- CFRE designation preferred
- Excellent leadership, team building, interpersonal and time management skills
- A high energy, results-oriented leader and must be a self-starter with little supervision required
