St. Lucie Habitat for Humanity is an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and serves the residents of Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce. The Development & Marketing Coordinator is part of a fast-paced Development office and will become adept in activities related to non-profit fundraising and relationship management, including assisting in creating and implementing the fundraising, development and communications strategy. The candidate should have familiarity with editing websites, social media, working with Constant Contact, or the willingness to learn, taking the lead on their usage. The candidate will perform administrative duties related to fundraising, marketing and public relations, and will gain firsthand experience in strategic planning to increase the capacity of a growing non-profit organization. We value relationship-based fundraising, and seek an individual whose goals are to become an experienced development professional. This position reports directly to the Development Director who will work closely with the Coordinator to cultivate skills, while accomplishing the goals of the development department.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Oversee and perform data entry and gift acknowledgement activities
  • Enter all gifts to SLHfH into GiftWorks, acknowledge gifts according to protocol.
  • Acknowledge recurring Hope Builder Club gifts by email, & send end-of-year summaries.
  • Oversee segmenting/growing/best use of constituent database.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate acknowledgement of gifts.
  • Maintain donor database and accurate contact information, and oversee data entry volunteers.
  • Stay current with best practices and updates for using CRM database.
  • Organize and conduct direct and electronic mail campaigns
  • Assist with mailing solicitation letters and designing components of direct mail packages.
  • Insure communications are creative and engaging, and schedules are maintained.
  • Assist where needed to create new presentation materials.
  • Manage Constant Contact and design and send e-newsletters.
  • Stay current with best practice social media usage.

Gift Reports

  • Maintain detailed record of prospect mailings to analyze list effectiveness.
  • Produce gift reports to determine effectiveness of direct mail packages.
  • Pull donor lists/queries as needed.

Event planning

  • Work with Dev. Director and Community Outreach Manager to plan and execute events.
  • Take minutes at event planning meetings and send to committee members in a timely fashion.
  • Attend all fundraising events to ensure delivery with the highest of standards.

Marketing and Social Media

  • Write media advisories, post events to local online calendars, update website as needed.
  • Post regular Facebook postings according to schedule and engage followers.
  • Stay current with and utilize HfH branding guides.
  • Create and maintain development flyers and materials necessary for outreach.
  • Create and update all marketing materials necessary when applicable.
  • Research and prospecting
  • Research new prospects for ReStore and Construction In-Kind donations.
  • Mail In-Kind solicitations and track responses, follow-up, and status.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping of In-Kind donors for acknowledgment & recognition.
  • Assist in expanding ReStore and Construction In-Kind Donor program.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage miscellaneous projects and complete various tasks as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings as necessary.
  • Participate in training and professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, website management.
  • Ability to handle some flexible hours (weekdays, some evenings, and an occasional Saturday and Sunday to help with events).
  • Strong writing ability.
  • Interest and desire to learn how to become an impactful development professional.
  • An understanding of and belief in, the mission of Habitat for Humanity.

The successful candidate should have effective interpersonal communication skills; be able to work well with a variety of people and personalities; can communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing, and has a good understanding of grammar and punctuation. In addition, this candidate will be able to effectively supervise and motivate volunteers, enjoys working independently and as part of a team, can make decisions and solve problems effectively, and possesses a thorough, organized, and detail-oriented approach to work. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Publisher is necessary.
