Spring Individual Philanthropy Intern

This intern will support the Individual Philanthropy team in the stewardship, research, and management of portfolios of major donors/prospects as well as ad hoc operational support and special projects.  There will be at least one overarching project in addition to daily tasks. The intern will participate in team meetings and events, and get to know the work of the team on a larger scale in addition to individual assignments.

With the directors, intern will be responsible for supporting stewardship opportunities and outreach to donors by email and mail. Will also research ways to reach and locate information on donors as necessary. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have legible handwriting and be familiar with addressing and mailing documents. Attention to detail is critical. Ability to prioritize and manage mutliple projects. Candidate must be reliable and willing to work in a self-directed and collabortive setting, unsupervised.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Long term research project to collect and present data on San Francisco area prospects in collaboration with San Francisco based senior director
  • Stewardship support with directors and stewardship team, to reach donors by mail and email. This includes entries to organization’s donor database for monitoring all communications.
  • Travel support, both international and domestic, in conjunction with team coordinators and directors
  • Attends team meetings and retreats, meets with members of the department and agency to learn more about their own interests, and the work of the organization.
Educational Background: 
Must be an actively enrolled undergraduate, or have graduated within 6 months of start date
Skills/Experience: 
  • Possess strong written skills, solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Currently eligible to work in the U.S.
