The Director, Private Sector Emergency Fundraising will be responsible for maximizing private sector support for Save the Children’s emergency preparedness, response and recovery efforts. The candidate will provide key messaging to a cross-departmental team of fundraising and communication experts, recognizing the particular needs of foundations, corporate partners, mass market and high-net worth individuals. S/he will also be responsible for working with content experts to develop visual assets that will be shared with donors through multiple channels—as well as responsible for working with internal communication teams to develop branded, highly engaging emergency fact sheets, proposals and reports. S/he will be the singular intersection between the private fundraising and humanitarian departments, ensuring that Save the Children is first to market in all private donor channels—and communicating real-time private sector response to our emergency appeals, with the aim of influencing the scale and scope of on-the-ground response activities.
S/he will also be responsible for creating a stakeholder map and decision-tree to ensure multiple teams activate to support emergency fundraising efforts in a coordinated and efficient manner. There is the expectation that the role holder will identify new markets and partnership models to grow the agency’s emergency response revenue on an annual basis.
Optimize the effectiveness and speed-to-market for private fundraising for international and domestic emergency responses. (30%)
- As the focal point for private fundraising (Resource Development / RD), consult with fundraising leaders to assess media coverage and private fundraising viability at emergency onset; influence emergency prioritization with HBT and communicate the appropriate course of action for prioritizing private sector outreach.
- In the early stages of the response(s) be the single point of contact between the HBT lead and RD, minimizing the lines of communication between the two departments.
- Ensure fundraisers have the essential tools and resources to initiate fundraising activities to their respective constituencies (mass market, foundations, corporate and high-net worth individuals). This includes preparing/customizing talking points and fact sheets drawn from information on sitreps and working group meetings; identifying content asset gaps; ensuring our website has latest fact sheets and visual content; and keeping knowledge management systems updated.
- Gather and report on private fundraising revenue and achievements to Senior Management, the Humanitarian Business Team and SCI International as needed.
