Associate Director, Community Engagement & Fundraising

The primary purpose of this position is to support the Director, National Events & Community Engagement in the strategic development and growth of the do-it-yourself (DIY) fundraising programs and initiatives.  The Associate Director will be responsible for recruiting and retaining supporters who are interested in fundraising and will create internal processes that help strengthen their relationships with Save the Children’s existing P2P supporters as well as grow the base of new supporters. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

Management/Execution 40%:

  • Perform Weekly check of all DIY Team raiser sites – Identify new supporters and coaching target list to use with Coordinator
  • Manage and supervise direct reports for DIY Program
  • Responsible for relationship management of new & existing Save the Children school clubs
  • Maintain knowledge of fundraising trends, technologies and strategies within the charitable event field

Strategy & Planning 30%

  • Manage and oversee the P2P DIY campaigns to including recruitment, cultivation and stewardship of fundraising supporters, marketing, volunteer coordination, logistics planning & analysis
  • Work with Coordinator to use data and reporting to strategize the best ways to contact, support and coach fundraisers
  • Target past fundraisers for new initiatives – create revenue goal for repeat fundraisers.
  • Define and launch new Save the Children school club program that will increase the engagement of youth with our mission
  • Create content and design of the quarterly eNewsletter “What’s Up”

Program Analysis & Evaluation 15%

  • Evaluate fundraising results, analyze effectiveness and modify strategies based on results
  • Fundraising participant reporting and analysis to help define coaching strategy and increase retention together with Director of Community Engagement
  • Maintain the DIY Tracker and document all incoming supporters

Budget Management 10%:

  • Liaise with Director of Community Engagement to build and manage program budgets
  • Manage DIY program budget to monitor and track spending

Emergency Response 5%: 

  • Assist in the creation of materials, guidelines and fundraising for emergency response amongst individuals, schools, small businesses and community organizations as needed
  • Update email contact list quarterly based on incoming emails from CE Unit
  • Perform other duties as may be required
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • You have a minimum 5-7 years' experience in area of expertise
  • Non-profit experience preferred
  • Proven excellent management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work flexible hours when needed
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional level of technical or managerial knowledge, skills, and experience to manage the operational activities of a unit or team, or provide the technical and management support related to various size programs, grants or projects.
