Manager, Planned Giving

Working closely with Senior Director and Director, Planned Giving, the Manager will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of efforts to increase bequest and other types of planned giving income now and in the future.

Responsibilities include supporting the identification, cultivation and solicitation of planned giving prospects; supporting direct marketing and assisting in providing PG training to major gifts staff.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Assist Director in tracking present fiscal year bequest and planned giving revenue and assist with projections, create plans and opportunities in donor database. Work in cooperation with legal team and outside law firm, provide trusts and estates follow-up with payable-on- death accounts (30%).
  • Maintain integrity of data: merging records, correct coding on gifts, tracking down gifts, input correct birthdates, deceasing records and providing related obituaries. Maintain accurate list of Eglantyne Jebb Society membe (20%).
  • With Senior Director and Director develop annual plans to increase revenue, through face-to-face, phone and electronic communication, mass marketing efforts in cooperation with data services, and annual donor recognition mailing; manage planned giving direct mail and e-mail response tracking system, creating plans and opportunities (15%).
  • Prepare mail and email lists for Stelter company marketing communications; send follow-up communication, including brochures, to PG mailing respondents. (15%).
  • Assist Senior Director and Director in preparing for meetings with planned givers and potential planned givers and, where appropriate, meet with planned givers. Support Director in managing cultivation events. (15%).
  • Assist in creation of PowerPoint PG training presentations to staff (5%).
  • Perform other duties as required
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in planned giving or fundraising.
  • High School or Technical/Vocational Degree
  • Working knowledge of Windows (Outlook, Word, etc.), PG Calc and Raiser’s Edge or similar software packages.
  • Excellent writing skills with experience writing proposals and marketing materials.
  • Energetic, organized, creative professional who is a team player.
  • Willingness to travel locally for donor events as well as work some evenings on occasion.

Preferred qualifications

  •  Basic knowledge of tax and estate planning laws, gift annuities, bequests, charitable trusts and other planned giving instruments.
