Summary

The primary purpose of this role is to generate significant annual corporate revenue through the development of consumer-facing programs particularly within the consumer products, retail, hospitality, publishing, travel, media and entertainment sectors.

The Director will help develop the vision and strategy for creating a robust fundraising pipeline and launching campaigns that position Save the Children as a preferred charity of choice for major global corporations, particularly to support key Agency global moments such as Mother’s Day, International Day of the Child, Back-to-School, Day of the Girl and Holiday. An experienced fundraiser and relationship-builder, the Director will support the efforts of the Senior Director, New Business and AVP/Chief Corporate Development Officer to create a world class unit to drive revenue growth and new business development of major corporate partnerships, and will be a key advisor to the full Corporate Team and Agency in this area of expertise.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Develop a corporate prospecting plan, sales materials and pitch presentations that leverage the power of Save the Children’s brand and increasing focus on the millennial customer—to secure new customer-facing partnerships that drive $1-2 million in annual revenue, with a focus on raising unrestricted revenue. Collaborate with corporate partner's marketing teams and Save the Children's Integrated Marketing and Media Teams during both the sales and creative development process to ensure messaging supports Save the Children brand guidelines and campaign plans. 40%

Work closely with members of the Corporate Partnerships Team to ensure that cause marketing opportunities are explored, presented and secured with existing and other prospective partners incremental to your current pipeline or portfolio. 30%

 

Work collaboratively across all areas of the Agency as an advisor and partner on opportunities impacted by corporate cause-related marketing activities, with a particular focus and synergy around advancing our "Movement of Millions" strategy. Examples include working closely with our Integrated Marketing team to cultivate corporate partnerships that have the potential to increase our brand recognition, digital and social media outreach, thought leadership profile, and volunteer engagement. 10%

Work with the Manager of Cause Marketing to monitor cause marketing KPIs—and track cause marketing trends and partnerships for the purpose of keeping the Corporate Partnerships Team apprised of key developments that could influence our strategy development and pitch presentations. Provide semi-annual updates to the team and attend 1-2 conferences each year to keep abreast of mega trends in the cause marketing space. 5%

 

Develop and maintain branded cause marketing materials that feature global and domestic cause marketing case studies; update annually and share with Agency colleagues within Save the Children-US and marketing teams embedded in other Members’ corporate fundraising teams. 5%

Help oversee the Manager of Employee Engagement to develop new offerings, update marketing materials on employee engagement annually, and advise members of the Corporate Partnership team on best practices in executing employee volunteerism activities. 10%

 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 7-10 years' experience in progressively responsible positions, with significant not-for-profit corporate partnership and cause marketing experience. Extensive experience in fundraising, sales, marketing and promotions required
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to work effectively and gain the respect of various constituencies including senior corporate executives and decision makers
  • Extensive knowledge of cause-related fundraising, business development, sales, marketing, digital promotions and communications
  • Experience developing successful cause marketing campaigns that drive undesignated revenue and brand awareness
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and work well with those from other countries and cultures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in marketing, business, public health or communications desirable.
