Summary

Working closely with the Associate Director of Research & Prospect Management, the Coordinator of Research and Prospect Management is responsible for identifying prospective major donors ($10,000+) to support an intensive, donor-centered fundraising strategy focused on creating portfolios of top prospects for major and planned gifts. This person will also be responsible for understanding and tracking the relationships our donors have with Save the Children and their assigned officers within the Individual Philanthropy Group (IPG).

 

The Coordinator of Research and Prospect Management will work in support of a strategy to advance a variety of agency-wide funding priorities, ensuring that IPG has a diverse portfolio of donors.

 

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Prospect Research Assistance (60%)

  • Provide research on prospective major donors using a variety of databases and online tools.
  • Prepare and update written profiles on potential individual prospects for major gift officers, Senior Management and the Office of the President.
  • Compile research in support of events, including IPG salons and the annual Save the Children gala.

 

Prospect Management & Other Projects (40%)

  • Assist Associate Director of Research and Prospect Management in updating and maintaining donor database.
  • Support data quality and process improvement efforts as it relates to donor database and other fundraising initiatives.
  • Assist Development Operations team with IT requests related to reassignments and reporting.
  • Other ad hoc projects related to fundraising support as they arise.

Required Qualifications

  • You have a minimum 2-3 years' experience in prospect research or fundraising
  • High School or Technical/Vocational Degree
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, online and hard copy research resources, and database experience.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet frequent deadlines.
  • Proven skills in understanding, analyzing and synthesizing high volumes of information.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential material in a discreet and ethical manner.
  •  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with prospect research tools: business directories and databases including Lexis-Nexis, WealthEngine, Target Analytics, Guidestar, and NOZA.
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud Enterprise CRM (BBEC)

  • Experience in complex nonprofit environment and an understanding of fundraising and nonprofits.
