Associate Director, Mass Market Fundraising

The primary purpose of this position is to support the Director, Mass Market Fundraising in Catalog, Acquisition and Small Business mailings. Responsibilities include regularly creating and analyzing results, reviewing creative, provide strategic recommendations, managing campaign budgets and ensuring the timely execution of all campaigns. The Associate Director, Mass Market Fundraising will be the key liaison with all stakeholders including but not limited to vendors and internal departments such as the Response Center, Marketing and Communications department and Web and E-mail team

This position will also assist in the management of our list rental/exchange program as well as involve working with our list brokers on acquiring lists for campaigns and establishing merge purge instructions for mailings.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Strategy and Planning 15%:

  • Working with the Director to develop marketing strategies to help continue the growth and success of the these mailings based on trends, opportunities for improvement, LTV and peer comparisons

Managing Campaigns 45%:

  • Responsible for the execution of the direct mail mailings ensuring all Key Performance Indicators are met.
  • Identify key strategic opportunities for improvement and efficiencies
  • Assist in list segmentation recommendations and the development of new models
  • Manage merge/purge and list exchanges
  • Work with internal and external teams to ensure proper management of production/mailing, creative, etc.
  • Ensure all schedules are met
  • Manage new campaigns as required

Program Analysis and Evaluation 15%:

  • Monitor campaign performance and report on results
  • Provide strategic recommendations based on results and LTV reporting

Budget 15%:

  • Manage acquisition campaign budgets
  • Work with internal teams to monitor and track spending

Support Director, Sr. Director and AVP on other projects as needed. 10%

Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in consumer direct mail acquisition marketing, including marketing plan and budget development, list and program analysis and creative direction.
  • Non-profit experience preferable.
  • Bachelor degree required; marketing preferred.
  • Proven excellent project management skills.
  • Previous experience working with strategic, analytical, operational and creative teams.
  • Experience managing various vendors, including print, lettershop, merge/purge, creative and list brokers.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and motivational skills.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft PC applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Strong multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to solve problems independently.
