Associate Development Director

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Development Director to support our Go Red For Women and Heart Walk campaigns within our Fairbanks Division. As the Associate Director, you will assist with all campaign elements, including but not limited to, campaign activations, event budgets and all fundraising activities.

This is a home-office based position with a fundraising goal of.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Identifies, recruits and manages participating companies and community groups to reach fundraising goals.
  • Handles all logistical planning and implementation of year-round events, meeting assign timelines, policies and legal requirements. This includes data management and entry.
  • Recruits volunteer leadership planning chairs and volunteer support committees to help execute logistics.
  • Provides a high level of customer service, leadership and motivation to business and social leaders
  • Compiles appropriate resources and materials for evaluations and development meetings. This includes materials needed for follow-up and monitoring event progress.
  • Plans volunteer training sessions for multiple areas and identifies speakers for the various trainings (held at least twice annually)
  • Performs other functions as assigned by the Executive Director to provide continuity and efficiency in the daily activities of the department.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. At least one year of experience in development or demonstrated interest in fundraising required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrated record of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Highly effective written, verbal and group interpersonal skills.
  • Skilled with word processing, database management and spreadsheet software using MS Word, Excel, Access, etc.
  • Works well in a team environment with staff, volunteers and community, both individually and in groups.
  • Functions independently with minimal supervision and carry projects through to completion.
  • Ability to plan, organize and maintain efficient workflow.
  • Ability to respond to changing priorities and demands of the department staff.
  • Ability to travel within assigned region, including occasional overnight travel.
