The Senior Manager of Information Technology & Operations reports directly to the Director of Finance & Operations. Primary responsibilities include overseeing, planning, executing, and managing all information systems/technology operations. This role is responsible for application development, database administration, desktop support, internal telecommunications, developing policy and strategic systems. The Senior Manager evaluates and identifies appropriate technology platforms to promote the work of UWSC. This role also ensures systems are operational, integrated, and secure as well as making sure that accurate data is available to drive the organization’s strategy. This role supervises the Data Manager.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Lead efforts across organization for integration of technology platforms, including cross-departmental training and workflow development
  • Ensuring UWSC staff have adequate infrastructure, dependable access to IT resources, both hardware and software
  • Assists Department Lead Team with short and long-range planning and goals for technology solutions and software platforms
  • Primary contact for vendor management and procurement for technology needs for the organization
  • Plan, recommend, and implement software and hardware upgrades and new projects
  • Collaborate across all departments to implement and maintain UWSC data standards across the organization, in all databases and build a data culture
  • Work with other UWSC departments to create organizational dashboards and map work results to UWSC performance goals.
  • Impact efforts to generate revenue for UW and to promote UW thought-leadership in the areas of evaluation, research, and data utilization
  • Manage UWSC’s cloud services provider
  • Assess existing data and current reporting and structure to ensure timely, consistent, and relevant use across the organization
  • Work across all departments to coordinate reporting in support of e-pledge, fundraising, marketing, volunteerism, engagement, and grants
  • Continuously seek to strengthen competency in the following software/databases: Enterprise, MIP, United ePledge and web-based giving tools, CRM systems and Microsoft products
  • Ensure staff are proficient in their use of all IT resources and complex systems through training and education
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, technical, or management discipline. A combination of education and/or relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of degree requirements
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three to five years job-related or transferable information technology experience
  •  Supervisor experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of data base architecture
  • Familiarity with SQL or other database scripting languages
  • Familiarity with fundraising databases and data management tools, such as Enterprise, Access, Apricot, MIP, and others
  • A deep understanding of data systems and the ability to synthesize organizational data into a form that allows management to drive strategy
  • A solid understanding of IT operations and requirements, including data storage and back-up, hardware and equipment, and network systems necessary to support a data culture and needs of the organization
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Experience and proficiency in CRMs systems, such Salesforce and Microsoft CRM
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities
  • Results-oriented team player with demonstrated ability to plan and work strategically
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed to meet deadlines and deliverables
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of people including user departments, consultants, volunteers, donors, and vendors related to information systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral discourse, translating technical jargon to user-friendly meanings, including giving presentations
  • Ability to thrive in a fluid, unstructured, entrepreneurial environment
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $61,000 to $70,000 per year
