The Easterseals Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Group Home Assistant Manager for our Alvord Group Home in Evansville, IN. This full-time position works hands-on with eight adults with intellectual & developmental disabilities; the position also plays a key role in overall operation & management of the group home & the training & supervision of staff.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of client, employee, and agency information.
  • Emergency On Call: (A) Stay within range 24 hours per day while on emergency call. (Schedule determined by coordinator for each team; generally, each assistant manager is on call for 1 of 3-4 weeks); (B) Respond within 10 minutes of any call. (C) Provide assistance as needed; this includes, but is not limited to, responding to the home immediately in a crisis, finding staffing coverage, & working open shifts as needed in the assigned home or the team home.
  • Household Management: (A) Assist with purchasing of supplies; have knowledge of proper documentation & accountability to budget. (B) Maintain confidentiality of all records (personnel, finance, health, incident reports, etc.). (C) Coordinate the physical management of the house in Manager's absence (cleaning, laundry, shopping, maintenance, etc.). (D) Monitor all house rules related to safety, sanitation, behavior, medication, visitation, etc. (E) Complete vacant Specialized Residential Assistant’s job duties. (F) Adhere to all state & federal regulations & guidelines.  
  • Ensure compliance with policy & procedure regarding safety: In the absence of the Group Home Manager, report injuries & accidents following the appropriate procedures.  
  • Staff Training: (A) Assist with & directly participate in training of all staff assigned. (B) Participate in two staff meetings per month. (C) Identify training needs of staff assigned & request training or conduct training.
  • Staff Supervision: (A) Monitor & direct activity of residents & direct contact staff on a daily basis. (B) Monitor & direct staff in carrying out each resident’s IPP, coordinated with the QIDP. (C) Provide input to managers for staff evaluations of residential assistants’ job performance. (D) Adhere to & enforce program policy and procedure.  
  • Resident Care: (A) Work directly with residents alongside the staff & model appropriate behavior & attitude toward residents; must be able to complete all aspects of the Resident Assistant position, including lifting 70 pounds. (B) Attend IDT meetings & any other necessary meetings. (C) Assist manager to ensure that appropriate medical care is provided & resident appointments are kept. (D) Maintain knowledge of & conform to residents' IPPs and Behavior Plans. (E) Emphasize philosophies of active treatment to staff.  
  • Corporate Compliance: Abide by compliance policy & meet requirements of compliance training as mandated by departmental requirements.
Educational Background: 
Must be 18 years of age or older & have High School Diploma or GED.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Ability to assist clients in activities including kneeling, crouching, reaching & bending
  • Ability to lift & transfer, with assistance, individuals who weigh up to 250 pounds
  • Ability to push large adults in wheelchairs
  • Must have the ability to lift 70 lbs. occasionally & 40 lbs on a regular basis
  • Prefer experience with individuals who have intellectual / developmental disabilities.                                         
  • Supervisory experience helpful.
  • Good leadership & communication skills required. 
  • Must be able to work as part of a team.
  • Must pass MANDT behavior training & pass recertification in MANDT annually.
  • Must hold current CPR card or pass CPR training & recertify as required.
  • Must pass any necessary medical treatment training as to provide proper client care.
  • Must have reliable transportation.  Must maintain a valid driver’s license & valid car insurance with ability to transport clients in own vehicle as necessary.  Must be able to provide copy of current insurance as requested.
