Reporting to the Senior Leader - Philanthropy, this role is accountable for achieving fundraising goals within a portfolio of corporate campaign accounts, individual donors and other fundraising sources utilizing year-round strategies designed to build relationships, cultivate donors and engage volunteers in the work of UWGT. Areas of Responsibility:
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of a fundraising strategy that will ensure that UWGT reaches its fundraising goals. Utilize a variety of fundraising approaches/channels that reach a diverse set of donors including, but not limited to, corporate campaigns, leadership and Tocqueville donors ($10K plus), other individual donors, special interest groups, etc. Work collaboratively with all Philanthropy team members to create and implement strategies that support revenue and awareness-building goals for assigned accounts.
- Maintain and grow an assigned portfolio of corporate relationships and other donor prospects; develop and implement strategies for year-round engagement and increased giving at the corporate and individual level.
- Support the CEO and Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) in the cultivation of Tocqueville and other leadership level donor relationships by developing a comprehensive stewardship and retention plan that identifies, engages, informs, influences and solicits donors and donor prospects at this level. Arrange meetings, provide briefings and prospect research, and contribute to a solicitation strategy. Ensure that a robust pipeline of prospects is maintained for growth along the revenue and engagement continuum. Actively meet with leadership donors and solicit gifts personally when appropriate.
- Be accountable for meeting or exceeding fundraising goals within assigned corporate accounts and individual donor relationship portfolio.
- Manage relationships with key corporate partners at assigned accounts such as campaign executives and leaders, HR, Community Relations/Engagement, etc. Provide high quality customer service throughout the year. Ensure that proper training to support successful campaign implementation is presented to each client organization.
- Maintain strong year-round communication and engagement with donors and prospects, ensuring a respectful and targeted relationship with each. Ensure that gifts are acknowledged in a timely manner and prepare donor reports as needed.
- Work with the CPO and/or Senior Leader - Philanthropy and other team members to create strategies for the engagement and cultivation of leadership donors within corporate campaigns; lead execution on such strategies to promote growth in both number of donors and size of contributions.
- Contribute to a strategy for attracting Leadership donors/Affinity Group members and to the design of events to grow membership and revenue.
- Utilize prospect and donor research to enhance campaigns and identify new opportunities. Be accountable for growth in prospect pool for future relationship cultivation.
- Ensure that the processes and procedures are executed in an efficient and effective manner. Offer ideas for improving fundraising processes and activities in collaboration with team to support quality, productivity and relevance towards meeting goals.
- Work collaboratively with Philanthropy team colleagues, Marketing, and other departments, as needed, to create strategies that support fundraising and awareness building goals. Identify donors to highlight in newsletters, annual reports, and other collateral as needed.
- Serve as a passionate and informed advocate for UWGT. Communicate the impact of our work, verbally and in writing, to key stakeholders throughout corporate and community networks.
- Stay informed and up-to-date on community, state and national issues that have a bearing on the work of UWGT and ensure that the Philanthropy team and others benefit from the learning. Share information freely across all UWGT departments to support organizational learning and the ability of all to support campaign and overall fundraising goals.
- Contribute to the development of the Philanthropy budget by providing accurate information and the best forecasts possible for assigned campaigns and other fundraising projects. Assist Finance in collecting and reporting any data necessary to satisfy funder and other external requirements.
- Maintain accurate and updated records of all communications and donor information by actively utilizing Andar, Salesforce and/or other CRM software. Accurately import, export, and edit customized donor data in a variety of digital platforms and tools.
- Actively support the goals of the overall Philanthropy team by working flexibly as assignments require. Support the goals of UWGT overall by occasionally executing responsibilities outside of the scope of fundraising when requested. Be accountable for outcomes of all assignments.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent in experience)
Skills/Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in fundraising, sales or business development, preferred.
- Proven history of high level, high return fundraising, sales or business development results based on building strong, lasting relationships with a diversity of donors/customers and through a diversity of strategies that uniquely reach each type of donor.
- Ability to comprehend and analyze financial and statistical data and donor databases. Understanding of data security principles and best practices.
- Comfortable interacting with corporate and foundation leaders, high net-worth individuals and community leaders and with making “asks”.
- Exceptional operational, planning and execution skills with a results-oriented record of achievement; the ability to set goals, meet deadlines and evaluate results. Customer service mindset with exceptional attention to detail required.
- Strong relationship building skills as demonstrated through past success in achieving goals through relationships and the support of networks.
- History of working effectively with all people irrespective of their history, economic status, challenges, race, gender, educational level or sexual orientation. Reflect a value for the importance of diversity and have experience working in diverse organizations.
- Able to work independently and achieve goals during times of ambiguity and organizational change.

- Excellent written and oral communication and networking skills with the ability to engage, inspire and educate in personal meetings, group settings and in written form.
- Knowledge of and experience working in the Triangle and Johnston County is a plus.
- Open-minded, entrepreneurial and willing to learn from others.
- Energetic, diplomatic, adaptable and with a good sense of humor.
- Strong knowledge of CRM databases (Salesforce preferred) and large scale data management, and the ability to comprehend, analyze and present financial and statistical data effectively.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other data management / presentation tools.
