Strategic Director, Regional Strides

Leads execution against enterprise-wide vision, direction and strategy for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (Strides) for assigned region, including accountability for significant income targets for Strides and community based fundraising. Working with regional leadership and global headquarters departments, develops regional strategy and planning for Strides events within community development staff structure and framework, as well as related mission and advocacy activities. Ensures goal achievement through effective leadership and collaboration with market leadership, community development staff, and the engagement and mobilization of volunteers. Responsible for profits and loss for regional Strides/community based fundraising activities and ensuring ROI targets are achieved.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develops and leads implementation of the regional strategy for Strides, including event execution and volunteer engagement to drive revenue growth through Strides and community based fundraising.
  • Works closely with the senior leadership team and market leads within the region with shared accountability for an integrated approach to meeting overall region goals and objectives. Serve as a voice for market needs.
  • Monitors financial expenditures and progress against the budgetary plan and takes appropriate measures to meet top line and bottom line goals ensuring a high ROI in meeting mission and revenue targets.
  • Collaborates with market leads, Cancer Control, Distinguished Partners, Business Planning & Operations, Communications/Marketing and ACS CAN leads to ensure coordinated and interdependent achievement of region goals; leveraging community relationships to achieve income and mission goals.
  • Leads or ensures effective stewardship of key volunteer and donor relationships and recruits leaders who can contribute to the success of the Society.
  • Maximizes the utilization of volunteers to achieve revenue goals; oversees the volunteer engagement efforts to ensure the volunteer talent and capacity is available to execute volunteer-driven activities.
  • Supports ACS CAN grass roots efforts, including ACS CAN membership, lobby days and action alerts.
  • Directs the utilization of event best practices to maximize fundraising through the Strides portfolio and development of community based fundraising efforts utilizing past and current Strides data. Fosters a culture that responds to community interest and desires.
  • Collaborate with Strides department to identify areas within the region with best opportunity for growth/ROI and develop/implement respective strategies; Identify region needs (training, collateral, product) and develop/implement respective strategies.
  • Works closely with Business Planning and Operations department staff for financial planning and analysis support to inform strategic planning to meet market and region targets.
  • Analyzes customer experience results and ensures a strategy to increase customer satisfaction is developed and implemented.
  • Maintains a productive and collaborative relationship with the Society’s global headquarters departments and other regions to develop and drive nationwide strategy execution and platform implementation; participates on enterprise projects and committees as appropriate. ensures appropriate support is provided for successful execution of community events, including collaborative planning and continuous performance feedback to the enterprise support teams and leadership of those teams.
  • Models and fosters behavior that establishes a culture that values the staff/volunteer partnership, and is consistent with the values, goals, and objectives of the Society to create an atmosphere of trust, cooperation, accountability, empowerment, and dedication to the mission
  • Drives community relevance through customer-centric and innovative strategies
  • Works collaboratively with leadership across all regions, focusing on critical partnerships, sharing of best practices, developing successful strategies, and collaborating across Regional boundaries.
  • Establishes and manages execution against annual budget. Responsible for ongoing revenue forecasting.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, plus 8 years fundraising experience in a large nonprofit setting
Skills/Experience: 

Preference for diversified income portfolio experience/exposure inclusive of Strides and other community based fundraising initiatives a multi-million-dollar organization.
