Under the direction of the Vice President of Community Impact and Strategy, the Sr. Manager of Early Learning and Education will be instrumental in leading the early childhood education approach to community programs and development and implementation of Mile High United Way's ECE vision for the education continuum. The Sr. Manager will be responsible for partnering with different volunteers, local and state organizations, councils, and collaboratives to implement our strategy while ensuring alignment with other appropriate and agreed-upon initiatives.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Research, develop, and implement an early education strategy for Mile High United Way that encompasses short and long-term goals for the agency as well as the target areas with specific measurable outcomes. The strategy will be based on values such as leadership, collaboration, accountability, diversity and inclusivity, and quality and will include specific agency action plans.
- Build and sustain partnerships that maximize the ability of Mile High United Way to achieve its goals in Early Literacy and Early Childhood Education.
- Guide program implementation and assist in the development of an advocacy agenda and engage in advocacy efforts to support the ECE programs in collaboration with the Sr. Director of Policy and Impact Inventing.
- Develop and manage collaborative relationships with new and existing Strategic Investment Partners (SIG grantees) that advance the goals and objectives of the Early Literacy and Early Childhood Education programs.
- Work closely with Evaluation and Learning Team to identify, collect, and analyze appropriate data to continually inform efforts.
- Develop and partner on 2-1-1 pre-school enrollment specialist position creation as appropriate.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and sustain partnerships that maximize the ability of Mile High United Way to achieve its four impact goals.
- Represent Mile High United Way on community-wide committees and functions
- Sustain, manage and develop projects as assigned.
- Research best practices and apply as needed/appropriate.
- Work in partnership with Mile High United Way staff, Board of Trustees committee members, and community volunteers in the investment of donated dollars.
- Identify and pursue potential funding opportunities and assist with preparing proposals to funding organizations and local partners in collaboration with the Grants Team.
- Facilitate collaboration among community, child and youth development partners, funders, policy makers, service providers, nonprofit organizations, the corporate sector and other key community stakeholders in the development and implementation of the early learning and education plans.
- Develop and implement an outcome measurement process for evaluating the progress and impact of the overall early learning and education plans and related projects in collaboration with the Evaluation and Learning Team.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES
- As needed and upon potential team build-out, oversee and manage ECE program staff providing the necessary coaching, training and performance assessments. At all times act as a role model/standard for the LIVE UNITED culture and provide a safe and supportive environment for team members.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred in human services, youth development, early childhood education or another field directly related to job responsibilities
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of five years direct related experience required.
- Three years supervisory experience preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
- Demonstrated experience analyzing information, problems or situations in order to identify patterns, tendencies, and or relationships to alternatives and their implications.
- Knowledge of community assessment and planning principles and methods.
- Demonstrated experience in advocacy and public policy efforts.
- Demonstrated experience in writing reports, grant applications and other documents.
- Demonstrated experience with program development, budgeting, outcome measurement and contract/grant management.
- Experience coordinating efforts and collaborating with variety of individuals having conflicting agendas.
- Demonstrated leadership and experience managing competing priorities and deadlines.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- This position requires up to 50% of the time outside of the office attending meetings, presentations and coordinating efforts with different organizations
- Must have own mode of transportation.
