Responsible for directing donor cultivation, education, solicitation, stewardship, and prospecting of major gifts ($10,000) in support of Mile High United Way's fundraising efforts.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develops, cultivates and maintains major gift donor relationships within the assigned portfolio of Tocqueville members (Average portfolio size of donors and prospects is 125)
- Creates a donor cultivation strategy for all prospects and donors in assigned portfolio
- Implements annual and long-range plans for major giving target markets to increase giving and levels of participation
- Provides follow up and personal invitations to all donors in the portfolio for Tocqueville events, tours and volunteer events
- Works with staff to identify Tocqueville prospects through direct donor gifts or workplace campaigns
- Identifies donors in the portfolio when volunteer support is needed and works with Tocqueville Society Ambassadors to execute the fundraising plan. (Includes but is not limited to the following: Provides Salesforce meeting reports and meeting preparation reports, follows up with Ambassador for results of their involvement, tracks Ambassadors' help in Salesforce, and follows up as needed.)
- Manages donor relationships through the donor funding cycle for the entire Tocqueville prospect and donor family to include cultivation of the head of household, spouse and communicating opportunities
- Helps to recruit volunteer Tocqueville Society Ambassadors each year
- Works with Senior Director of Strategic Relationships and Tocqueville Society development team to staff Tocqueville events, network with donors and prospects and provide follow up
- Works with Senior Director of Strategic Relationships and Tocqueville Society Development Team on development, content and oversight of collateral materials and events related to Tocqueville gift area
- Works with Senior Director of Strategic Relationships and Tocqueville Society Development Team on setting annual strategy for membership renewals and recruitment of new members
- Assist Director of Individual Giving with development and execution of individual giving strategy
- Manage an individual portfolio of donors
- Support accounting and finance corporate accounts
- Supervise junior fundraising staff for individual giving at the leadership level
Donor Cultivation, Education, and Stewardship
- Oversees development and maintenance of current and prospective major gift donors in the portfolio
- Corresponds with major donors through personal contact and correspondence
- Implements and manages donor recognition for donors in the portfolio with support from donor relations staff
- Captures significant donor relationship activities; creates and tracks solicitations and projections; and enters donor information in Salesforce
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains security and confidentiality of all Division documents and files.
- Maintains a positive image of Mile High United Way.
- Is professionally supportive of all organization policies, procedures, functions, departments, divisions, managers and employees.
- Provides support to other Department and Corporate priorities, as needed, e.g. Strategic Plan, annual budget, special initiatives, etc.
- Develops and maintains strong working relationships with other Departments
Educational Background:
Bachelor's Degree in humanities, business, finance, or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience:
- 3 -5 years successful experience in fundraising, management, and one-on-one solicitation. Proven solicitation experience of gifts $25,000 and higher and experience closing multi-year gifts preferred.
- Demonstrated volunteer management experience at high levels of an organization
- Additional successful experience in funds development including, proposal writing, prospect research, volunteer management, annual individual giving campaigns, capital campaigns, and donor cultivation and recognition

- Prefer knowledge of community volunteer base knowledge of community's network of affluent families and private foundations
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Must work well under pressure, be flexible, creative, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable of the community and possess a high energy level
- Professionally supportive of corporate missions, policies, staff etc.
