The Business Advisor will support the mission, vision and work of Mile High United Way's business consulting service, United Business Advisory (UBA) through business development, business consulting, community engagement, advocacy, and volunteer engagement. This position will be responsible for building and sustain partnerships with community partners, clients, volunteers, and resource providers in support of UBA.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop strategies for serving small businesses in under-resourced communities, with a focus on minority and women-owned businesses.
- Implement business advisory consulting services strategies by directly working with volunteers and clients.
- Develop and grow partnerships with other nonprofit organizations providing complimentary services to UBA clients.
- Work with Mile High United Way's Evaluations and Learning team to develop performance measures, and track output and outcome data to measure effectiveness and impact of UBA program.
- In conjunction with Mile High United Way's Marketing and Communications team, develop UBA collateral, reporting, impact stories, and other related materials to be. distributed in the community.
- Assist in locating and activating volunteer and in-kind resources to assist with the delivery of UBA services.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research best practices, local and national. Integrate and disseminate researched information as needed into services.
- Represent Mile High United Way on relevant committees and task forces, as well as at speaking engagements, conference panels and trainings.
- Provide assistance to the fundraising and development process by building and maintaining authentic relationships with residents/participants, donors, and community partners.
- Sustain relationships with the different departments internally to ensure UBA is aligned with the overall strategic plan.
Educational Background:
Master's of Business Administration preferred. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or Marketing or equivalent relevant experience required.
Skills/Experience:
- 10+ years of experience working in business or business consulting
SPECIAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
- Fluency in Spanish preferred
- Consulting experience, with small businesses emphasis preferred
- Accounting, finance, marketing or other small business experiences preferred
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple, complex projects. Ability to operate under pressure and to manage multiple high-priority projects concurrently and meeting deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work within a structured organization and lead a complex coalition. Ability to work independently and as a team member, flexible and change-oriented.
- Knowledge of research-based practices in human services and understanding of local and national issues and trends.
- Excellent oral communication and writing skills, including presentations, written reports, and other documents.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- 50% of time in typical office environment, 50% in client settings
- Part-time also available
