The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Science & Medicine Advisor – Lifelong Learning Programming in our National Center office located in Dallas, TX .

In this role, you will provide cardiovascular and stroke content and curriculum development expertise to AHA's scientific programming efforts. Working closely with AHA's science volunteers, you will serve as the staff expert resource on content. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must as this position collaborates across various committees responsible for a variety of scientific programming to assure alignment across programs and inclusion of all topics related to AHA's overall curriculum. Your clinical background combined with the ability to think strategically and creatively will result in achievement of exceptional content/curriculum for AHA's scientific meetings, including Scientific Sessions and specialty meetings. Your ability to remain on the leading edge of current studies and influences in cardiovascular and stroke treatment and research will be key.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Direct and provide leadership to science volunteers serving on AHA program committees as they develop specific curriculums.
  • Collaborates with other AHA staff leads for these committees to assure high quality programming while maintaining required deadlines.
  • Strategically guide volunteers to use educational strategies which best match the education goals.
  • Provides input to AHA marketing staff so that content can be accurately described and marketed to targeted audiences.
  • Maintains current CVD and stroke knowledge on the state of the science and practice in these fields to assure that this content is covered adequately in AHA programming
Educational Background: 
RN with advanced degree, PA, or MD
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related professional experience
  • Clinical and educational experience in the cardiovascular, neuroscience or related fields
  • Adult education expertise
  • Superior writing & communication skills
  • Superior collaboration and group management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple long and short term projects at one time
  • Ability to understand, integrate and summarize scientific literature
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
