Health Programs Analyst

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Health Promotions Analyst in our National Center office located in Dallas, Texas .

In this role, you will be responsible for providing dedicated support for health promotions and program evaluation activities performed by the AHA’s Center for Workplace Health Research and Evaluation. Additional responsibilities include assisting with development and implementation of health promotion strategies and program evaluation activities for AHA workplace health programs and initiatives that are aimed at the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and promotion of ideal cardiovascular health.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Supports all program activities related to the AHA CEO Roundtable, including concierge technical assistance to Roundtable companies to complete the annual Workplace Health Achievement Index.
  • Act as Project Manager for the Workplace Health Achievement Index, includes being the point of contact for cross-functional business units involved in developing, implementing, and evaluating the Index.
  • Writes sections of analytic reports and proposals for new projects.
  • Develops fact-sheets and brief reports; substantiates facts for AHA activities.
  • Supports the administration of the Workplace Health Steering Committee, including drafting agendas, writing minutes, and assisting with developing committee materials
  • Assists in the production of manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications and presentations; provides input for presentations at scientific conferences and meetings.
Educational Background: 
Advanced degree in Public Health (MPH), Public Policy (MPP), Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH), ideally with some course experience in occupational health and safety; a certification in workplace wellness preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience creating data collection instruments for both quantitative (surveys/questionnaires) and qualitative (interview/focus group guides) approaches.
  • Experience in conducting quantitative and qualitative data analyses.
  • Experience in strategic and operational planning.
  • Project management and coordination experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of research design and methodology.
  • Ability to understand scientific communication (journals, briefings, reports, statistics, etc.) ability to synthesize complex data sets into reports or communications for diverse audiences.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of public, community and population health and business models.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to travel overnight approx. 10% of the time.
