Direct Response Research Analyst

The Analyst is responsible for planning and implementing assigned analysis and marketing support for direct mail campaign initiatives, and special projects. Responsible for developing process for analyzing and reporting on program performance including database analysis, and providing support for the strategic and tactical direction of the program. Responsible for collaborating with Direct Response team to project income and budgets for affiliates as well as identifying and communicating new fund raising strategies.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Collaborates with Director to develop an annual direct response test plan.
  • Manages development and implementation of direct response testing for the renewal, acquisition, Neighbor, and Direct Mail donor online programs.
  • Designs, manages, and analyzes direct marketing research and test projects. Monitors external vendors' performance to assure the accomplishment of project objectives.
  • Conducts segmentation research and makes recommendations
  • Performs appropriate statistical analyses and interprets results in light of program and project goals.
  • Provides recommendations for the potential application of the research.
  • Provides decision support regarding strategic and tactical program direction using research results, historical and external trends and expert input.
  • Monitors and reports direct mail research progress against plans to assure accomplishment of annual objectives.
  • Identifies, investigates, and manages new marketing strategies on an on-going basis.
  • Manages vendor(s) conducting database management projects.
  • Collaborates with Director to develop donor segmentation strategies, that will enhance income and response for the donor database.
  • Administers record management guidelines to maintain test information and reports as needed for tracking trends and identifying needs for research.
  • Develops and manages centralized budgets and income projections for Direct Mail.
  • Collaborates with Director to document planning and pricing strategies to ensure budgeting objectives are identified.
  • Collaborates with Director to plan and implement-mail marketing campaigns including content and list development. Determines e-marketing and online strategies to integrate direct response and online initiatives.
  • Develops communications to cultivate e-relationships with direct mail donors
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in social or behavioral sciences, business, or a comparable discipline
Skills/Experience: 
  • Two (2) years of experience in marketing and direct mail (research, development, testing, evaluation and promotion).
  • Two (2) years of experience in research methods and statistical analysis
  • One (1) year of experience in planning, budgeting, coordinating multiple projects and services, and overseeing the work of vendors
  • Basic knowledge of the principles and practices of direct marketing research.
  • Knowledge and experience in database marketing is desirable.
  • Ability to manage multiple direct mail projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to meet and deal with all levels of AHA staff and vendors.
  • A demonstrated ability to plan, develop, and implement direct mail research projects with minimal supervision.
