Business Development Manager

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Business Development Manager in our National Center office located in Dallas, TX .

In this role, you will work with a wide-range of health technology companies to build new relationships and alliances in pursuit of the goals of the AHA’s Center for Health Technology & Innovation. The Business Development Manager is responsible for negotiating agreements with customers that further AHA’s health-technology initiatives, with a particular emphasis on digital licensing and solutions integration efforts and opportunities. This position will work closely with the Health-Tech Advisory Group, as well as AHA Corporate Development, Legal and Science to design, develop and execute these relationships. Additional responsibilities include:

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Identify potential health-technology business relationships and align/develop them to meet AHA health-technology business goals.
  • Determine best course of action for developing solutions & lead follow up; handle specific AHA business & licensing inquiries.
  • Act as a ready health-technology expert and serve as a key lead in communication with Affiliate partners regarding relevant opportunities.
  • Work directly with healthcare systems, volunteers, AHA staff and partners to implement these health-technology relationships.
  • Build, manage, and monitor sales pipelines/leads and relationships.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in health administration or a related discipline or equivalent years of work-related experience and/or training.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum five (5) years in health technology, health IT, or a related field.
  • Ability to learn and retain product specific information.
  • Experience working with the healthcare market.
  • Ability to communicate, build relationships, gain trust and effectively work with and through affiliate staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to work with internal and external contacts in a manner that is both convincing and influential; ability to negotiate (executive presence and strong presentation skills essential).
  • Ability to work through contracting and compliance processes through organized approach and detail with negotiation on both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must be able to travel overnight approx. 35% of the time.

  • Understanding of the healthcare marketplace and payment models.
  • Background in Health IT/programming.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and communicate data and data relationships in a healthcare environment.
