The ReStore Donation Center Lead assists the ReStore Manager in keeping with the general oversight of the store--including daily operations, financial reconciliation (when needed), and volunteer supervision/management. This person serves as a front-line employee who regularly interacts directly with donors and represents Habitat for Humanity. (Advancement into new roles and greater responsibilities is foreseeable.
This position plays a key role in forming the critical partnership with the ReStore Manager required to maintain efficient and effective operations during the store’s operating hours.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Stockroom Oversight. The Donation Center Lead should be actively connecting volunteers to roles within the stockroom/donation center, providing training of volunteers, and placing them in advantageous positions in the stockroom. All merchandise received through donation center should be closely monitored and this individual should be aware of all activity.
- Assessing and Handling Merchandise. The Donation Center Lead assesses and processes all donations received via the donation center through the stockroom and onto the sales floor. Efforts are made to contribute to an efficient and effective flow of donation processing. This position ensures the sales floor and storage areas are organized and presented in an attractive manner.
- Donor and Customer Service. The Donation Center Lead works to respond to the critical priority of providing exceptional customer service to donors and customers. Unloading donations and loading purchased product must be a top priority to ensure a surprisingly exceptional service level is experienced. This position contributes to the retention of donors, customers, and volunteers by providing exemplary customer service.
- Pricing and Merchandising. To successfully drive sales, this individual must be able to identify products and conduct timely research to accurately price products for profit maximization and inventory turnover. The Donation Center Lead must assist the Store Manager in rearranging the store on a daily basis while strategically showcasing product.
- Opening and closing of the ReStore for scheduled daily hours as needed.
- Conduct walkthrough of the store, to maintain safety and appearance standards.
- Personally provide new volunteer orientation and train new volunteers as needed.
- Work closely with the ReStore staff and volunteers to ensure store policies and procedures are followed.
- Oversee and maintain daily/weekly task assignments and records.
- Daily sales/cash register reconciliation and deposits when needed.
- Serve as a cashier when needed.
- Provide assistance with donation pick-ups by driving truck and/or serving as driver’s assistant when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
High school Diploma or GED required. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
Skills/Experience:

- Ability to provide leadership and supervision to volunteers while also having the ability to perform most tasks in the absence of staff or volunteers.
- Must be able to use moving equipment such as a hand-cart with proficiency.

- Detail oriented and organized.
- Reliable transportation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Work is labor intensive.
- Ability to lift in excess of 75-100 pounds repeatedly.
- Work requires considerable standing, bending, kneeling and reaching in awkward and tiring positions.
- Bulk of time will be spent standing, pushing, pulling, carrying, walking and otherwise assisting customers, donors, and volunteers.
EXPERIENCE:
- Prior experience in a retail setting a plus.
- Retail experience with construction or building materials/hardware preferred.
- Truck driving experience a plus.
