The purpose of this position is to work collaboratively across all departments to support the Information Management team in providing data science services to the organization. The Data Analyst will assist in collecting, manipulating, performing statistical analysis on, and interpreting data to help build capacity in the use of information in evaluating the efficacy of and continually improving upon our work in reducing poverty.
Areas of Responsibility:
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Works with UWCO staff and partners to support the development and implementation of performance measurement systems and reporting practices.
- Performs research and provides information to help stakeholders use appropriate and reliable data to make sound comparisons and interpretations.
- Works closely with Community Impact, Operations, Marketing, Resource Development, and funded partners, to understand information needs, works within various data systems (e.g., Accountability, CCN, CRM, ANDAR, among others) to convert data into actionable information, and maximize the use of data as part of a culture of continuous improvement and adaptive management.
- Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends, patterns or issues in complex data sets.
- Develops and analyzes standard, recurring reports that provide regular status updates/real time feedback, and provides customized and specialized reports, including support for organizational Strategy Map dashboard metrics..
- Leads efforts to automate workflows in MS 365.
- Identifies opportunities to improve workflows.
- Writes and maintains metadata, methodologies, and procedures.
Database Management
- Applies systems analysis techniques and procedures, including data quality checks, workflows, and performance.
- Designs, develops, documents, creates, tests or modifies forms in the Accountability database (E-cimpact) for sub licensees, neighborhood partnership programs, and systems & innovation grants..
- Maintains an active role with the development, implementation and ongoing use of the Accountability database(s) and other organizational database systems as needed.
- Provides assistance and support for user testing in Salesforce Philanthropy Cloud.
- Assures data integrity – e.g., assures data is as up-to-date, accurate, and complete as possible – as well as backed-up and secure.
- Supports the maintenance and quality of all assigned databases.
Other
- Acquires data from primary or secondary data sources.
- Assists in data preparation and scrubbing prior to analysis.

Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, computer sciences, statistics, economics, public policy, sociology, or related field
Skills/Experience:

- Excellent analytical ability and a strong grasp data validation and quality.
- Proven ability to collect, manipulate, and utilize large amounts data, and interpret data so that it provides meaningful and actionable information.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively link data across systems, and assure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
- Superior knowledge of Excel, as well as other Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Power BI).
- Driven to pose questions and hunt down solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and work in partnership with diverse groups of staff, volunteers, donors and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate complex data in an understandable way to a variety of audiences, through data representations, dashboards, presentations, etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and support for United Way’s Mission and Vision

- Self-motivated and independent, with strong sense of focus, follow-through and organization.

EDUCATION
- 2 years or more of experience in data visualization, preferably in a social service related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated effective prior experience in database management, data reporting systems and programs, data analyses, data mining, and/or business analytics.
- Expertise in developing and implementing queries, reports, and data visualizations.
- Advanced knowledge of data visualization tools, Power BI, Esri, Tableau, etc.
- Thorough appreciation and acceptance of, and commitment to, diversity and inclusion.
