The Digital Content Producer supports the VP for Marketing & Communications with an emphasis on creating compelling content about the work of United Way and repurposing it effectively for social media, electronic newsletters, our website and other integrated marketing communications of United Way of the Midlands.

Create, brand and promote communication concepts that represent the mission and objectives of United Way of the Midlands.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Must be a strong writer who is not afraid to seek out a story. Talk to people served by United Way programs, to our volunteers, to our donors, and tell their stories.
  • Repurpose content for multiple channels: social media, electronic newsletters, United Way’s website, print materials and more.
  • Coordinate with other staff to develop and implement content calendars and communications plans.
  • Maintain interaction on social media through daily responses to incoming follower inquiries and comments. Some social media monitoring on nights and weekends will be required.
  • Photograph and film places and things for use on social media as needed. Coordinate with staff, partners and volunteers on photography and videography planning.
  • Create infographics using Canva or other graphic design platforms.
  • Understand analytics and leverage data to optimize reach and engagement. 
  • Coordinate with partners on social media opportunities.
  • Some planning and coordination of events, marketing promotions and projects.
  • Attendance at some United Way and partner events before work, after work and on weekends is required on a scheduled basis.
  • Monthly social media reporting, research, and data entry.
  • Serve as a representative of United Way, display courtesy, tact consideration and discretion in all interactions with other members of the UWM community and with the public.
  • Safeguard all confidential information used in performance of duties.
  • Filing, copying, printing, emailing, and other office tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
A Bachelor’s Degree required, with one to three years work experience, preferably with major course work in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, Advertising or related fields.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Strong photography and videography skills are preferred.
  • A strong commitment to volunteering and community engagement is preferred.
  • Superior writing/editing, communications, computer, and problem‐solving skills are required.
  • Proficiency with social media networks, Microsoft Office, and graphic design platforms such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
  • Must be able to interact with the public at all levels, clearly communicate, be able to organize, prioritize, follow directions, and complete assigned tasks in a fast-paced environment with a keen attention to detail.
  • Should be able to work independently and possess a willingness to acquire new skills.
  • Must be able to work outside of regular office hours on a scheduled basis. Must be able to work occasional weekends on a scheduled basis.
  • Excellent grammar, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Excellent phone skills, pleasant, helpful and friendly manner.
  • Service oriented.
  • Comfortable with public speaking.
