The information technology (IT) director is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT functions for United Way of Greater Cincinnati (UWGC). This includes directing all IT operations to meet staff, donor, volunteer and agency stakeholder requirements as well as the support and maintenance of existing applications and development of new technical solutions.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Strategy:

  • Work closely with UWGC SVP/CSO and IT committee chair to charter and recruit sub-committees needed to deliver the needed IT services.
  • Drive continued optimization of IT solutions in support of functional and organizational business needs. Work with UWGC teams to understand their business needs and ensure that solutions are provided that fulfill them in a timely, cost effective manner.
  • Generate and maintain an overall solution architecture that meets the needs of UWGC.
  • Lead information technology projects including development of project plans, budgeting, tracking and implementation.
  • Drive adoption of IT solutions through user enablement, communications and support
  • Responsible for implementing the CRM and information management systems for the organization including establishing and monitoring standards with consistent delivery of CRM data and reports.
  • Serve as the primary liaison and resource for all departments/divisions regarding the use and standards related to CRM and related databases.
  • Implement an integrated analytics strategy to provide timely business results and insights on organizational priorities
  • Provide operational, service desk, infrastructure, compliance, and other KPI reports to executive management on a continual basis.

Infrastructure:

  • Ensure reliable, cost-effective delivery and maintenance of IT services, including those delivered by suppliers for IT infrastructure, business applications and analytics.
  • Vendor management – identify needed services, obtain competitive bids, and negotiate contract terms including Service Level Agreements.
  • Oversee the infrastructure which includes but is not limited to networking (LAN/WAN), voice services, servers, storage, workstations, security, e-mail, conference rooms, cabling, and cloud services.
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and eliminate them with strategic solutions that increase data safety.
  • Manage the financial aspects of Information Technology, including but not limited to formulating and managing budgets, maximizing ROI and capital expenditures and processing vendor invoices.
  • Respond to off-hour alerts, calls, e-mails or notifications to ensure operational efficiency and uptime when needed.
  • Oversee data integration for Digital Services between Salesforce and StratusLive.

Policy:

  • Acts as primary liaison and resource for departments regarding the use and standards of UPIC applications.
  • Set policy and procedures for configuration and maintenance of hardware (desktops, laptops, servers, switches, phones etc.).
  • Maintain data security, data backup/recovery, network security and privacy policy. 
  • Ensure on-going training and compliance of staff.
  • Maintain UWGC’s personal productivity technology adoption and use policy, addressing mobility, including BYOD, while maintaining security.
  • Develop/maintain relationships with companies and universities to support the UWGC data analytics strategy.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, computer science, information technology or equivalent experience required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Eight or more years of experience spanning IT infrastructure, business applications, database/analytics and collaboration tools.
  • CRM experience highly beneficial. Proven track record that includes direct management of IT professionals, portfolio management, managing and overseeing complex, diverse, and large-scale information technology and business transformation projects, delivering IT services (including delivering results via suppliers), and reliably and cost-effectively running IT operations.
  • Excellent conceptual, analytical, judgment, problem-solving and communication skills required.
