The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Development Director (Sales/Fundraising ) in our Great Rivers Affiliate office located in Cincinnati Ohio.

This Director will provide vision and strategy for changing the lives of individuals through the CycleNation and HeartChase events and will be accountable for achievement of the overall fundraising goal of $350K in the assigned territory.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Achievement of the overall fundraising goal which includes corporate sponsorship and participant income.
  • Recruitment of best practice event chairpersons. Each event requires 1 corporate chairperson per year.
  • Conducts sales calls to generate new business and manage existing partnerships
  • Solicits and maintains high-level corporate sponsors by developing year-round cultivation plans ensuring superior customer relations.
  • Works with an Executive Leadership team, including corporate community partners creating a grassroots movement to set people on a journey to better health while raising critical funds for the AHA mission.
  • Develops relationships with volunteers, sponsors & key corporate & community leaders to successfully drive participation in events.
  • Monitors participant fundraising trends and implements proven strategies to maximize income
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least two years of experience with a non-profit organization in a fundraising position, or two years proven success in marketing, sales, event planning, fundraising or new business development.
  • Demonstrated skills in negotiation and motivation
  • Proven outside sales experience, business-to-business experience preferred
  • Knowledge and skills in fund raising principles, practices and techniques
  • Ability to recruit, train, counsel, and manage volunteer groups and to develop long range organizational goals and follow through with them
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere, but also to work independently
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills to conflicts
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Applied knowledge and intermediate skills in windows applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication including large and small group presentations, group facilitation, and training,ability to speak publicly
