United Way of Greater Cincinnati has an immediate opening for a creative, dynamic, energetic, self-starter to join the Marketing Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting the organizational tone and voice overseeing all copywriting, editing and producing a variety of communication tools for multiple audiences. This individual will develop and pitch compelling stories of organizational impact to media and lead media relations strategy for the organization. The Communications Manager will develop trusting relationships with reporters/journalists and sector influencers and oversee the media relations strategy in order to advance United Way’s story of community leadership and impact.
Guided by the organization’s strategic plan, brand direction, and evolving programming model at United Way, the Communications Manager will develop a consistent organizational voice across all external communications touchpoints.
- Create compelling, emotional stories that inspire and motivate others to engage with United Way
- Lead development of all content across all communications mediums
- Effectively leverage communications to drive revenue and influence consumer behavior
- Well-connected within our local community and capable of inspiring local influencers and community leaders to engage with our work
- Collaborate with team members, designers and other key staff to produce content and materials
- Research content ideas, conduct interviews and craft stories
- Brainstorm visual and copy ideas with other members of the team
- Write, present and modify copy; proofread all materials
- Champion the organization’s brand standards, messaging and tone of voice.
- 5 years of experience in similar editorial, content marketing, content strategy or content curation role; previous experience managing other employees
- Journalism, PR/communication and/or professional writing/storytelling background
- Experience producing a variety of content deliverables, including blog posts, articles, white papers, podcasts, videos, webinars, infographics, social media chatter and media relations materials
- Proven experience driving revenue through marketing strategy
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills with an acute attention to detail; experience in project, time and budget management skills
- Ability to translate complex content into engaging messages that resonate with the target audience
- Demonstrated ability to apply marketing/communications tactics to broad organizational strategies
- Must be a master user MS PowerPoint and capable of developing impactful presentations
- Advanced computer skills, including mastery of all major Microsoft office products (specifically Outlook Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Desire to learn and develop in a fast-paced agency environment where creativity and forward-thinking are a must
- Experienced at engaging and inspiring audiences, along with excellent presentation skills
- Superior writing and editing skills; knowledge of AP style; ability to write in a variety of styles/voices
- Exceptional leadership; proven ability to plan/prioritize, develop and deliver content across multi-channels
- Proven ability to build and execute strategies effectively and efficiently
- Ability to exercise good judgment and work well under pressure; adaptable to changing priorities and demonstrated ability to mobilize resources and act quickly
- Experienced working with internal and external stakeholders
- Occasional local travel to events within the regional area
