The Manager of Prospect Research is accountable for managing United Way’s Major Gifts prospect research program, including portfolio management and maintaining constituent data standards within the database of record.
Areas of Responsibility:
Prospect Research Program
- Utilize licensed and publicly available resources to research and analyze United Way’s donors and prospects, in accordance with APRA’s Statement of Ethics.
- Develop and maintain Prospect Research procedure and best practice documents.
- Document research findings in appropriate data tables, donor profile documents, and database records, and provide requested information to Resource Development teams in a timely fashion.
- Support portfolio review, pipeline analysis, and relationship mapping with timely, relevant, research updates.
- Create and maintain data mining operations to query relevant donor data and monitor data quality in database of record, in accordance with existing data entry protocols.
- Draft and edit Resource Development information in external communications and internal documents, including Tocqueville Society and Endowment recognition lists, website, etc. to ensure accuracy of donor names and corresponding gift levels.
- Monitor Resource Development Activity Reports, Revenue Reports, and pledge alert notifications.
- Monitor published materials and news alerts for competitive gifts and significant events involving United Way’s donors and prospects; update donor information and communicate findings to Resource Development in a timely fashion. Proactively identify new potential prospects.
- Support establishment of prospect/donor Linkage, Ability and Interest scores for prospect plans.
- Work with wealth screening vendor to prepare donor files and analyze screening data. Exports and imports data from/to database of record, updating constituent coding as needed.
- Assume responsibility for special research projects related to Major Gifts Initiative and Comprehensive Campaign.
- Achieve or exceed prospect research performance metrics and maintain a client-focused approach to serving Resource Development teams.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree preferred or 2-3 years equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Experience with Prospect Research preferred.
- Familiarity with CRM database best practice strongly desired.
- Strong fact-finding, problem-solving, research and analysis skills required.
- Highly organized, meticulous attention to detail, ability to multi-task, prioritize, delegate and execute concurrent projects and day to day tasks.
- Ability to be discreet and maintain highly confidential information, required.
- Possess a collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit, self-motivated, innovative, resourceful, flexible; consistently delivers high level of service to the team and organization.
