Development Coordinator, Major Gifts

Cultivate and steward a portfolio of major gift donor prospects and provide support for operational processes that help meet the annual and long-range philanthropic goals of Feeding America’s Development Department. Provide support for donor outreach and stewardship, gift and pledge documentation, donor records and network-facing fundraising programs. Promote collaboration with network members and other colleagues engendering trust in our national, individual relationship management process. This position will work with Major and Planned Gifts team members to provide administrative and operational assistance for programs that deepen relationships with individual donors and prospects for major and planned gifts. This position will also provide administrative and event support to Network Fundraising Services, a program at Feeding America that provides intensive and long-term fundraising capacity building services to the Feeding America network.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Cultivate and steward a portfolio of mid-level donor and major gift prospects with consistent and timely communications, reflective of Feeding America’s best-in-class relationship management process
  • Provide operational and administrative support to the Major and Planned Gifts team and Network Fundraising Services team
  • Assist with the writing and development of fundraising and stewardship materials, letters, and proposals
  • Assist with department operations such as donor stewardship correspondence, donor interaction database entry, generating prospect reports and formatting/analyzing regional donor lists
  • Manage department budgets for Major Gifts, Network Fundraising Services and Planned Giving
  • Assist with Planned Giving administrative and follow up activities
  • Maintain internal and external information sites on HungerNet for Major Gifts, Planned Giving and Network Fundraising Services
  • Support special projects related to prospect and donor research, data analysis and departmental operations including researching top potential donors based on market segmentation, food bank giving, volunteer leadership or historical support
  • Support project and lead in planning and execution of donor and network-facing events and webinars
  • Develop prospect engagement plans that integrate with existing Feeding America and network events, conferences and meetings
  • Other tasks as assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required or relevant experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2-3 years professional experience in an office environment.  Administrative and/or project management experience preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Experience with or interest in learning fundraising software and SharePoint
  • Superior verbal/written communication skills and an eye for detail when proofreading.
  • Interest in fundraising best practices and major, annual and planned giving programs
  • Interest in developing donor strategies, prospect lists and research, briefing and gift request materials, and donor stewardship for major donors and prospects
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff, volunteers, donors, and prospective donors.
  • Ability to manage up and across different staff levels to bring projects to completion.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a strong sense of meeting deadlines and follow-up.
  • Aptitude to prioritize project load and collaborate with manager on reprioritizing workload appropriately.
