Help evolve and implement Feeding America’s learning/knowledge management strategy as it relates to Member Grants data/information. In addition, manage a portfolio of grant opportunities to Feeding America network members according to donor intent and Feeding America’s strategic priorities. Work collaboratively with a wide variety of internal staff, network members, and other partners across all stages of the grants lifecycle.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Evolve the collection and leveraging of Member Grants data to better support organizational learning:
- Improve what is gathered in the Grants Management System (GMS), including increased data standardization
- Improve the process to share data from the GMS (user portals, data exports, etc.)
- Analyze and interpret data to provide insights
- Monitor, evaluate and ensure data consistency and integrity
- Work closely with the Research and Learning Team to align and integrate the collection of Member Grants data (via applications, grantee reporting, etc.) with Feeding America’s overall priorities and strategies.
- Help evolve and support the use of information to make more data-driven grant award decisions.
- Assist other Member Grant team members with grantee reporting – gathering, analysis, and summarization of reports.
- Respond to a wide variety of data requests from stakeholders, including aggregation of grantee data to help assess the impact of member grant investments.
- Undertake and assist with special projects as needed.
- Independently manage a portfolio of directed grant opportunities with varying levels of complexity, including:
- Draft and communicate grant awards
- Determine grantee reporting requirements
- Gather, analyze and summarize grantee reports
- Develop strong relationships and work in close collaboration with internal fundraising staff, subject matter experts and others as needed to successfully execute each grant opportunity through its entire lifecycle.
- Provide technical assistance to applicant and grantee food banks at application, award, and reporting stages to ensure grant compliance and success.
- Participate as a reviewer on competitive grant review committees.
- Educate stakeholders about the grants process to continually increase understanding and transparency.
- Learn and utilize the GMS to manage grant opportunities.
- Continually work to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of grant processes, including use of the GMS and its data.
Educational Background:
BA/BS degree required, or equivalent applicable experience.
Skills/Experience:
- 1-2 years of direct experience with data management and analysis.
- 1-2 years of grant-making (vs. fundraising) experience a plus.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new systems/technologies/tools quickly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to reprioritize and adapt to change in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, communication and customer service skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to understand a business need and utilize data and analysis to provide insight or support for business decisions.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint; advanced skills in Excel.
- Knowledge of SmartSimple GMS and/or other database application(s) a plus.
