Responsible for the development and execution of comprehensive relationship management strategies and the achievement of assigned growth, retention, participation, and revenue goals for the companies and prospects within the Corporate Team’s portfolio, valued in excess of $40 million. Manages and directs teams of Relationship Managers, ensuring the execution of tailored initiatives necessary to establish and preserve the United Way as the primary philanthropic conduit between companies, their employees, and the communities in which they operate. Ensures the delivery of a year-round engaging experience for all donors and volunteers. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer.
- Lead, guide, and coach team of Corporate Relations Managers.
- Oversight of prioritizing and managing organizational portfolio of 600+ corporate accounts valued in excess of $40 million.
- Ensures Corporate Team’s focus is on the priority relationships of the top corporations and prospects.
- Ensures identification and understanding of the history, corporate culture, operating rhythms, philanthropic goals and objectives of corporations in the Corporate Team’s portfolio, with the Corporate Team established as the primary resource and contact in their relationship with the United Way.
- Maintains a small personal portfolio of high-priority accounts, building cross-functional support teams for the identified corporate partners.
- Oversees collaboration and coordination with the rest of the organization, ensuring the annual campaigns for UWMC’s portfolio are tailored and executed flawlessly.
- When critical to advancing the relationship, engage President, SVP/CDO and all UWMC senior team in support of corporate fundraising.
- Oversees the management and engagement of key volunteer leaders (Campaign Cabinet) in the implementation strategies within Corporate Team’s portfolio.
- Oversee the Loaned Executive program (temporary campaign associates).
- Ensures deep, strategic, year-round, sustainable relationships between the employees and companies within the Corporate Team’s portfolio are cultivated.
- Ensures the key individuals and senior leaders within each corporation and prospect in the Corporate Team’s portfolio are identified, and strong United Way relationships are nurtured and supported.
- Ensures tailored initiatives that increase engagement with the United Way and deepen the commitment of the corporations, prospects, and their employees are developed and executed for each client. This will primarily center on creative engagement efforts and partnership with the Engagement team.
- Ensures the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database and process for the individuals, prospects, and corporations within the Corporate Team’s portfolio is actively managed.
- Analyzes data and reports for opportunities and risk identification. Tracks and evaluates effectiveness of strategies, campaigns, and overall results.
- Partner with Marketing in the development of campaign presentations, impact reporting, sponsorship updates, campaign materials, etc., and liaise with broader United Way of Metro Chicago team on proposals and final report budget requests.
- Ensures special events are planned and executed, participating in key events with prospects and corporations, the United Way, and the communities and agencies supported.
- Oversees the training of new Corporate Team members.
- Ensures the processes of the Corporate Team are established, documented, maintained, and improved.

- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Eight or more years professional work experience, with five or more years previous experience in a fundraising, development, sales, communication and/or public relations capacity required. Thorough working knowledge of relationship-based fundraising procedures and philosophies.
- Prior management experience.
- Ideal candidate will possess a strong and current knowledge of Chicago corporate community.
