Devise and execute a website content and user experience strategy for FeedingAmerica.org to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to increase traffic and improve web conversion of both leads and donors, maximizing the fundraising potential of the website and supporting the organizations mobilize strategy.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Lead the execution of annual strategic plans for the web channel, with a core focus on cross-funnel priority initiatives and core activities that translate brand awareness into engagement and support for the organization.
- Collaborate with the Advocacy team and digital agency on the role of Advocacy within the broader engagement strategy and support the execution of advocacy engagement.
- Support the Brand & Content Marketing team on the execution of donated media opportunities in the digital channel to maximize traffic to the website and translate brand/issue awareness into engagement.
- Execute new SEO strategies and tactics to increase qualified traffic to the website, through the improvement of search engine rankings and click-through rates.
- Collaborate with team members across the organization, including Social, Brand Marketing and Communications, to build and execute strategies to drive incremental traffic through social channels, partners and press coverage.
- Partner with digital leadership on the digital content strategy, content development and marketing plans to distribute and promote digital content.
- Create and manage an editorial calendar for FeedingAmerica.org – including site promos, recent news, blog articles, etc. – based on inputs from interdepartmental team members; create/publish promotional and editorial content via Blackbaud CMS.
- Serve as Editor-in-Chief of the Hunger Blog, developing content that creates an emotional connection to the issue and generates more traffic to the website via SEO and referral traffic from content syndication.
- Lead meetings with blog editors – discuss new ideas and assignments.
- Ensure all articles are optimized for search engines using proper tagging and meta data.
- Provide education and best practices to blog editors and content contributors.
- Identify and coordinate promotional opportunities for blog content through Feeding America and external channels.
- Manage the web testing and optimization program, to implement tests that will increase net revenue for the organization, and manage program across team and agency partners.
- Ensure online properties are appropriately tagged to measure performance and regularly monitor website metrics that inform future strategies.
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of FeedingAmerica.org through regular monitoring and maintenance of images, statistics, links, etc.
- Create and execute training and support plan for CMS authors throughout the organization with training sessions, resource guides and troubleshooting.
- Manage the development of the monthly e-newsletter, Hunger’s Hope.
- Solicit and collect content from Feeding America network members – including maintenance of network member profile pages and local job postings.
Educational Background:
BA/BS in Marketing, Communications major preferred, or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience:
- 5 - 8 years professional experience in digital, including content creation and website maintenance with demonstrated increased responsibility and support of and contribution to broad strategy, Non-profit experience a plus.
- Strong copywriting, editing and communication skills required.
- Strong creative, diplomatic, interpersonal and presenting skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Experience with web content management system, required.
- Technically proficient with base understanding of HTML and analytics tools.
- Committed to organizational mission of ending hunger.
