Our Youth Market programs reach more than 18 million students each year and our goal is to help students develop heart-healthy habits through physical activity and learn the value of community service by raising funds to help kids with special hearts.

We are looking to fill a Youth Market Director position to work with the school systems in the North Central West Virginia spanning counties Hancock to Mercer, Jackson to Pocahontas.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • achievement of the registration and revenue goals for this market;
  • planning, monitoring, coordination, and promotion of Kids Heart ChallengeTM, American Heart Challenge, Wear Red Day and other Youth Market activities within the schools in your territory;
  • providing orientation, training and consultation to volunteers for all activities related to Kids Heart ChallengeTM;
  • achieving all goals and objectives relating to program numbers and revenue generation;
  • adherence to all national and affiliate Youth Market policies, guidelines and procedures;
  • working with appropriate volunteer task force groups;
  • collaborating with counterparts in other areas of the region and nationally.

In this role, you will report to the VP of Youth Market and will be supported by our Charleston, WV office. This position will be home-office based and preference will be given to applicants living within the central region of West Virginia. Daily travel to schools throughout your assigned market is required.

Educational Background: 
While having a bachelor’s degree is helpful, having at least 2 years of sales or fundraising experience within schools or school districts is important;
Skills/Experience:

  • experience with physical education programs and/or working in school districts would be a plus;
  • you can easily navigate the assigned territory mapping the best routes to schools assigned to you;
  • you can engage school leaders and PE teachers to develop a real passion for holding our events in their districts and schools;
  • having presentation skills for small and large groups to address school assemblies;
  • you can work as part of an integrated team;
  • you are willing to travel up to 80% every day to visit schools and volunteers;
  • you are able to work outside standard hours as needed, including occasional evenings and weekends.
